Just bought my first road bike for 400 aussie dollarydoos. Fuji Sportif with tiagra 10 speed.

Tiagra is great for a first road bike. As the other anon said in the previous thread, your saddle seems tilted a bit too far back, may wanna level it with the ground. Same with the bars, in time when you get more flexible you'll be wanting a lower position.

Crack in the frame near the seatpost clamp.

Took in into the LBS to show them and they called a couple of weeks later saying "hi we have a new frame"

Unfortunately (depending how you look at it) the old colours were limited edition so the new one is a bit more standard black with orange trim.

Hesitant to get the steerer cut since I'm still not sure if comfortable with it so low.

Did a sick fucking jump on this bike the other day and broke my collar bone. The bike's completely fine as far as I know. I've had it for about a month now, so I'm going in to the bike shop today for it's post-break-in period check up with a sling on. I've definitely broken it in.

You're right, my handlebar slipped out of place the other day (probably got loose) and I haven't adjusted it properly back yet.

I expect that I'll get the second set of brake levers removed soon also, I've never used them and they're ugly. Why the bike came with them is a mystery.

I live in a city with very fucked up roads, fat tires help a lot. And it's very light, so I can get everywhere fast and without getting too tired.
Handles drops and jumps like it was made for them, had no problems.
I think it's quite nice for a 300 euro build.

I have a bike like that, and admittedly I do commute on it during deep winter, other than that it's meh as a mode of transportation. And judging by the components (singlespeed, small travel fork) it looks like a dirt jumper rather than a freeride bike. It's an okay bike, but not there are better commuters and better freeride bikes.

I was on a very limited budget, so had to get myself a bike as tough as I could. I prefer the single speed configuration because it's simple, light, and I hate derailleurs, cables hanging from everywhere, etc. You are right, my bike's built on a DJ frame. (UMF Hardy)
And you know, my commuting is jumping on and off sidewalks, bunny hopping stairs, and stuff like that. Just look at the pic, and you'll get the idea. That's a sidewalk.

Oh, that's actually a bit like the city I live in. We've got a lot of hills here too.
You bike's awesome, and I would have used one like it for every day riding, but I really like going ape shit, so my commute is going downhill as fast as I can, jumping over everything, swerving through traffic jams and taking shortcuts like stairs and parks, and pedaling as fast as I can uphill. Gotta make my riding fun. :D
Please rate my vintage road bike too. KTM Formula.

Nope. Good ol' Chicago Schwinn Super Sport with a pretty slick chromoly frame.
If my roommate continues to not do anything with it, I might buy it back and fix it up all nice, and then possibly resell it.

It's not pretty, but it makes for a great winter commuter. I've had this frame for ~15 years and have frankenbiked it out to suit my needs. I like the bulllhorns a lot for getting low in a headwind with winter gloves on.

It's the Onza Ibex, the lighter cased one, it's kind of like a thinner walled High Roller. I feel like it would be the perfect tire for a between XC and trail bike like an Anthem X, Tallboy, etc. but it's a bit too light for full time trail riding. I've ridden Ardents before too, I though they were good cornering but terrible braking and climbing traction, it was on a Tallboy LTC, not sure if they long chainstays affected my judgement on the climb part.

No, it's not even close to XC because slack geo, suspension, tractor tires and everything else. It's going to be a bitch to pedal with any speed on forgiving terrain. And sluggish steering will make it booring as fuck to do so, so you wouldn't want to anyway.

Marketed as all-mountain... kind of in the middle. It's really just a very capable XC / light DH.

Has had a lot of upgrades to get to this point. Much thought has gone into components to keep weight down, and not affect the geometry too much. For instance, replaced heavy old 120mm fork with lighter 150mm, but I run a little extra sag to compensate. Now I have much better rebound, but minimal increase in BB height and a lot less weight.

Actually, it's fast as fuck on any terrain (adjustable compression) and only weighs 28lbs which is pretty good for a full sus. XR4 is a pretty fast rolling tire, too.

Bike is leaning a few degrees, making it look a little more slack... wish you could try it.

Fuji has the name trademarked and licences the name to Specialized. Fun thing is that Fuji are chill and don't care if anyone else uses the name, meanwhile Specialized tried to sue a small café for using 'Roubaix' in their name.
They didn't succeed because Fuji stepped in to say Specialized didn't have the power to do that and they would be hapy for the café owner to use the name.

Just got it yesterday. I have not ridden a day in probably 8 years and know nothing about bicycles. There are a ton of trails behind our apartments and I was out for 3 hours today. Shit is better than I remember. My ass hurts like fuck tho. Is that something to just get used to or is there a way around that?

Really depends on why you're hurting: if it's muscle soreness, that's because you're weak and out of condition. If it's soreness because your crotch was getting jackhammered by the saddle slamming into it, that's a ride technique and saddle position issue. If your sore because the saddle is too narrow/wide for your sitbones, the only solution is to find an appropriate saddle.

You can't really buy it since it's a custom build. The frame is a Diamant cross frame (bicycle company from the former GDR) with Reynolds 531 tubes and a new powder coating. Parts are nothing special really, Shimano 105 and a Sram crank, tires are 30mm Challenge Strada Bianca.

Didn't really keep track of cost but all in all I probably spent around 1000 bucks on this, some party I still had laying around so I didn't buy everything new. I make new builds or change things all the time, it's a nice hobby albeit kinda spendy.

Swapping out the fork soon, just waiting on a brake caliper spacer. Current one's a bit flexy and old and I can't be arsed to service it, the spare I have laying about should be a bit better.

Tempted to put a 5 bolt crankset on it so I can go larger than 48t as I don't use the lower gears, but then I don't know if they'll ever come in handy should the battery die unexpectedly.

Which bike are you referring to? The wheel on the electric bike is indeed rather heavy and lessens the effectiveness of the rear suspension, however I didn't have a spare rigid frame and the suspension does still help a little.

If you're referring to the other bike, the Alfine 11 on it really isn't that heavy and the suspension was fine. That wheel is currently on my DH bike, will probably swap it back over when I do the rebuild.

I'm 6'4 and ride a 58cm frame. The seatpost is so high up you get more than enough offset without the seatpost's assistance

I also got a lot of benefit from going to a relatively stubby (in my world) 90mm stem with a slight rise. Not sure of the technical reason but it helps.

I think the nature of being over 6'4 means (on average) very very long legs, less long arms, relatively short torso

Don't really have a problem with the reach to be honest so I don't think I need a different seatpost. The only thing that makes this bike a little uncomfy is the huge saddle-to-bar drop even with spacers. It only really bothers me on long rides over 100k though.

You're right about the legs though, it's not the same for all tall people though but I have very long legs compared to my overall height (6'3) which is why my seatpost ends up looking ridiculous. I could ride a larger frame but anything larger just looks hideous.

Like I said, wrong sport but fuck I just love cycling and it makes you look like a dork anyway. You should see me actually riding the bike, it literally looks like a mini velo and I'm not even fat.

Yeah. This is why I end up riding 58cm with a jumped up seatpost and stubby stem.

Because of the seat tube angle, the higher the seatpost goes, the more setback you get.

At my height, the saddle gets set so far back that I start having issues both with the cranks being too far forwards AND not being able to reach the bars. So I'm 6'4 on a 58cm bike just for the shorter top tube. Zero offset seatpost and a stubby stem help fight the top tube length even more.

I think a tall seatpost looks cool to a point and then looks ridiculous. but who cares. If the seatpost is at a safe insertion height and you like the fit, fuck it. Internet aesthetic critics are just hyper-consumer idiots, which is the opposite of what cycle means to me. Just consider the option for your next bike if you have fit issues

My floor-to-pelvis without shoes is 36"/91.5cm

I have 180mm cranks which help bring the seatpost down a bit. I bought some IRD 200mm cranks but they were duds (chainrings wobbled really bad, being returned)

Most online calculators put a 36" inseam at 200/220mm cranks. If you can find a bike with a high BB and are okay with toe overlap, that's another angle to pursue if you have $$$

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm totally non-competitive. This bike is for bouncing around downtown Philly/NYC and long rides in the suburbs. I don't like riding into the wind so I like to have a very aero position even if I am going kinda slow.

Set up:

My first ever mtb build. How did I do does the size look ok?
I'm 6'3" and the frame is 20".
I think I'll maybe put the spacers from under the stem to on top of the stem. 1x10

Ended up costing something like 300 €. Only things I didn't buy used were chain, rear shifter (shimano zee) and cranks+chainring (fsa ck-300 + nw kettenblatt).

front derailer should have a 1-2mm gap between the cage and the big ring, its way too high. The rear derailer cable is way too long. Also wtf is going on at that rd cable stop, there shouldnt be an inline adjuster there. Does the cable fit snugly in the stop? If it doesn't it will mess with your shifting. I really doubt you should have the saddle slammed back, i'd talk to someone about your fit. The hoods are too far up the bars, making the drop position (which you'll use a lot with bars that high) poor for shifting/braking and the bartape is awful. Gatorskins piss away any nice ride feel you'll get from such a cool bike, 4000s II please, and yeah, despite all this, fucking cool bike.

Not him, but I'd at least have the label looped around the frame. For example the seat tube, it actually looks like the owner has purposely avoided it for some reason. As it is it would be fairly easy to steal the bike minus the wheels, just unbolt the front and cut through the rear (bolt cutters would go through that rim easily, even some tin snips would probably do it).
