Despite being a swissfag I don't know much about what OP aksks (shame on me being a /n/igger and not knowing about this).
I do know that by the 1940's swiss railroads had mostly been electrified, this process was likely sped up seeing the unstable situation in Europe, since Switzerland doesn't have many natural resources, but lots of cheap hydroelectric power.
Pic related is the most traditional swiss electric locomotive, the "Crocodile". They were originally built starting in 1919, but they were still in use many years later. My father, who was born in 1954, often saw them when he was a lad, pulling all kinds of trains.
