I'm assuming you mean front wheel drive, rear wheel steering? Good luck steering with a rear wheel at any kind of speed.

there are types called "chain twisters" that are... pic related is somebody's build off recumbents.com
the BB is fixed to the frame, and the chain has to flex sideways a bit to allow steering.

all the types like this I have seen were home-builts. I've never rode one but you don't get a whole lot of steering range with them. they are mostly a racing thing, where you won't ever need to turn sharp corners.

>>894627
sure its harder, but must be a hell lot faster
>>
What about a recumbent with direct internally geared front wheel drive?

Like an internally geared unicycle but with a back wheel and a laid back seat

That'd be neat

countering pedal steer may take a while to get used to
less traction / more slippage climbing

I am the origal recumbentfag and I've not been on this board for 4 months.

Yes recumbents exist in FWD.
There are 2 types of FWD, on your steer with your legs (pic related) and one which is fixed (look up raptobike).

But I've stopped riding a normal recumbent. I am saving up for a velomobile. I want a velomobile for long commutes & shopping an a normal bike for all the close things (5<km)

I'm not sure which velomobile I will buy but I think it'll be one with decent ground clearance, a mango maybe. Unlike this one, which is beautiful, but the WAW has too big a turning radius for me. The Mango is probably the most versatile and practical velomobile in existance, after comes the Rotovelo.

The rotovelo is an interesting concept. It's one of the simplest velomobiles with a simple but very TOUGH and DURABLE hard plastic shell that can wistand impacts much better then other velomobiles. it was designed for masses and it's origal asking price would be ~2000$ making it one of the cheapeast velomobiles in esitence. But since there wasn't much asking for it the price went up and up to 6000$ again sadly.
