My first bike, woo. Paint is fragile as fuck (scratches on top tube are from leaning against a fucking tree) but I guess that's what comes from this stupid matte finish trend. Oh well.
>>799759
Looks good though.
Wax the fuck out of it to help protect the finish.
>>799763
Colour's boring anyway. After this season I'll probably get it stripped and repainted something more exciting with a couple layers of clearcoat.
>>799759
matte black cx, sexy af. please don't strip and repaint.
>>799770
Maybe I'll leave the fork black.
Two of my bikes.
You know, it's not necessary to have a live PYBT all the time. It's 90% the same bikes over and over anyway.
Plus the last PYBT still has a lot of life left, the fact that it's not on page 0 doesn't mean it's dead.
>>799811
Shut up. Nobody likes you. Go post a train.
>>799814
Case in point, thanks camwhore.
finally got my new bike for the spring. Was riding a 1982 Motobecan from June last year until this month. Bought this off ebay for $600. Can't wait to have big studded tires for the winter.
>>799759
Very chill. Black 105 looks good here. Might have just sold me on it for my next build.
>>799776
NICE BIKE
>>799801
Take new picks jabroni! How tall u tho? Those things look LARGE
>>799814
Post your train thread. PYTT.
Steel, shredder.
Is the guy with the steel hardtail with carbon rims still around?
I liked that bike.
>>799837
I know your mud guards are custom, did you free hand them or use a template?
I have a Mucky Nutz that's gonna go on the rear to keep the shock clean, got a Neoguard that can go on the front but would like something like yours to keep the dirt from flying up my front. Does it work well for that, or does it just stop the dirt going through the fork and up into your face (the Neoguard does that)?
>>799844
That's him above you. Rear rim is an aluminium 24" in that photo though.
>>799845
Fuggit, gonna post my bike too. The seized rebound damper decided to shift to full damping today (no idea how that happened), fucking sucked to ride around like that. Gonna pull it apart tomorrow, will remove the adjuster if I have to. Also broke 3 nipples on Friday and managed to pop another 10 or so by hitting the spokes with a screwdriver, now running about half aluminium and the rest brass (?).
>>799837
Rad bike. what are those pedals?
>>799837
Hardtail that makes me hard.
>>799811
ayy lmoa fag
>>799844
Might be meh. I have like 5 or 6 different wheels, here's pic with carbon rims for enjoyment.
>>799845
Template... there's a freely available one of the mucky nuts through google, took that and modified it with photoshop through 5 or so prototypes until I got it just how I wanted.
However, because of the plastic I was using, which happened to get brittle in the winter, all my fenders were destroyed from all the shred falling and trials during winter. Need to use a rubbery style cutting board next time, the hard plastic ones aren't good all year.

Neat bottom bracket cutout, Phil cartridge BB.

I don't understand this all black shit for bicycles. Cars maybe, bikes no.
3/5 take care of that stem and it's 4/5.
>>799823
5/5 if you actually ride it off road, but is that a dent in the top tube?
>>799825
2yellow/5
>>799837
3/5 -2 if you didn't ride it to where you took the pic.
>>799847
0/5 again.
>>800134
I'd like this a lot if it had gears or was set up for track.
have a 2/5.
>>800136
2/5
>>800139
5/5/5/5/5/5/5/5/5
>>800148
3/5 if you drop the dork disk. Hell I'd give you a 4/5 if it wasn't for that huge cassette.
>>800150
Yeah I know the spoke protector or whatever it is a bit dorky, just haven't gotten around to working out how to take it off. It's my first road bike so I'm a bit of a newb.
Also gonna lower the handle bars a bit now that I'm a bit more flexible.
>>800157
Just snap the plastic bit in half if it doesn't already have a slit in it. I am assuming you know how to keep your rear derailleur in check.
>>800197
also this
>>800198
and this
>>800202
Well, I swap RS Recon and rigid fork from time to time.
Surly straggler, bitch.

Who /cyclocrossmasterrace/ here?
Haven't posted in a loooong while.

Cool story bro.
>>800253
>cages match the posts they're on
This makes me really happy.
>>800258
my ratings were on looks alone
>>800271
Because I care how my bike looks
>>799759
One hell of a first bike. It will be even sexier when it's caked in mud/dirt and has some visible wear.
Might want new tires... Those ones are pretty meh.
>>800243
>Matte black bieks r cool everything else is ghey
The post.
>>800275
What would you suggest? I'd love something ideally that would be useful on- and off-road.
>>800150
>take care of that stem
What do you mean? Cut the steer tube down?
>>800279
Hybrid 29er, thank me later.
>>800282
No, I just want tire recommendations. Maybe Sammy Slicks?
>>800285
gatorskins, grandprix, or just look on conti's, schwalbe's, or vittoria's websites and see what you like.
>>799814
>Go post a train.
>>799759
lean your bike on your rear tire, not on your frame.
>>800210
>If the only picture of bikes you haven't rated is your own
Can't say I've posted mine here. I skip people if I remember rating them or their picture sucks.
0/5 for using the 10 scale go back to video game journalism faggot.
>>800219
4/5... I'd 5/5 but those drops are so damn small, looks weird.
>>800243
0/10 your taste a shit too.
>>800253
3/5
>>800258
Might wanna get a trip, you can be 'butthurt suspension guy'.
>>800268
thanks m8, pet peeve of mine too.
Really wish 105 pedals still came in that clear coated aluminum color, hard to find the old ones to match my cranks
>>800327
Get outta here with your beard and ironic glasses.
>>800279
Kenda Happy Medium tires have done me well.
Hi /n/
Having trouble deciding what kind of bike to get
doing about 50-75mi/week in 4mi intervals (idk if it's relevant but those are the stats)
>>800320
Yeah, that'd be smart.
>>800150
>3/5 -2 if you didn't ride it to where you took the pic.
That would be literally impossible as the average grade is almost 30%, with many sections much steeper than that, tons of loose rock, ledges etc... pic related (buddy, not me)
A moto trials bike could potentially climb it... but even then..
>>800418
depends on what type of terrain. if mostly road and price is more of a consideration than speed 80s/90s steel road bikes or hardtail mountain bikes with slick tyres from your local craigslist is a good place to start.
thanks for not starting your own thread, but there is typically a running buy bike general on this board. go post your cl url there so people can help you look
>>800320
One of the things I hate the most about fenders.
>>799964
>Need to use a rubbery style cutting board next time
a-are they made out of cutting boards?
>>800431
Thanks
>>800436
Yep... easy to find and pretty cheap compared to buying a fender, though I'm sure there's other potentially better options out there.
>>800426
Do you encounter bears often on your rides? That is bear spray on that dudes hip right?
>>800443
Yes that is bear spray.
Not often.. been riding in the mountains maybe 5 or so years now, and they are definitely around.
I've had 2 encounters. One time blasting through the forest at 40-50kph, come out to a clearing and a momma grizzly and her cub are JUST about to cross the trail I was on. No time to stop, swerve around big ass bear mere meters away, it gets scared and jumps back from me... fly past unscathed. Whew.
Second time, a group of maybe 4-5 bears (not sure if black or grizzly) were passing through below the trail we were on, maybe 100m away or less.
One other animal related situation of interest. We were hike-a-biking up this one trail, get to the top without incident, on the way down there was a freshly severed deer leg in the middle of the trail. Wasn't there on the way up.... o_o
>>800455
Did it hear you coming? You would have been fucked if it decided to swipe at you or target fixation. And if you had a buddy behind you...
The only time I came really close to an animal was this. I could have touched it with my elbow. It was hiding under the trees and my sunglasses are very dark. Spooked the shit out of me when I passed it at the same moment it exhaled.
