Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit opened last Friday. I was there and got a few pics (this is the only one on my phone). For the first time in sixty years, the North Bay has rail service.
Next up is rebuilding the connection to the Larkspur ferry terminal, then up to Cloverdale and (one day) up the Eel River to Eureka.

>Eureka
you don' smell-a so good-a yourself!
I work next to the track on the run between San Rafael to Larkspur, there was a huge homeless encampment on it, they had the fire department come and blast the whole thing with a hose then came through with two dumpster trucks and 20 mexicans with garbage pickers and weedwackers and cleared it all out in a few hours, was a great site to behold. That was the only good part of this retarded project though, it's useless.

Damn son, you're dumb as fuck. The 101 commute cooridor through Sonoma and Marin Counties is disproportionately one of the worst in the Bay Area.

No way really? I totally didn't know that after commuting from Santa Rosa to Marin for the last 15 years. Thanks for enlightening me. No regular commuters will ride this train. The only thing it will do is bring more people to Petaluma/Santa Rosa with the pipe dream they can commute via train/bus/ferry to SF, they'll give up after 2 weeks and drive just like everybody else.
