Is urban planning of the former Warsaw Pact/Eastern Bloc countries something the west should strife for?
Built around mass transit/public transport and equal access to amenities like schools and healthcare.
Also post Commie public transport of every kind.
Pic related is Nowa Huta (currently a district of Cracow) built from the ground up as an "utopian ideal city" according to soviet/socialist ideals.

those commie blocks make me even more depressed
As for the whole planning and such, can't tell, as most if not all Eastern Bloc planning was already done taking into account previously established public transport systems and areas
As for my city, Riga, they wanted to build a metro, which would have probably collapsed , one of the main reasons why it was cancelled (also protests and other factors)

My city (Łódź) is built in it's entirety on a giant artesian aquifier and we don't even speak about the possibility of a metro system.

yeah, ours is a port city and has a river flowing right through it, separating the two urban areas, which makes for a pain getting around the city, especially during rush hours, the poor 2 main bridges are a slow-motion picture

It's a mixed bag, really.
Advantages:
>built around public transit
>ornamented and majestic public transit
>cheap, quick and easy to build
>places to live for everyone
Disadvantages:
>not car-friendly (but who cares)
>ugly and depressing as fuck (commieblocks)
>little regard for historic buildings
>less resources available in general
Pic related is a tram in Halberstad/Halwerstidde, Germany. East Germany kept most tram systems in place that would have been dismantled under Western rule. Halberstadt currently has 43 000 inhabitants, 2 tram lines, and 16 km of tracks. The trams run every 15 minutes during the day.
don't forget the tatras

And now is a shithole, about which jokes are made. I bet You know that.>>1100651
>equal access to amenities like schools and healthcare.
And other, like social pathologies, which communist cities are especially designed for.

i'm pretty sure that by eastern urban planning you mean that the both the inner city and the suburbs are served by overcrowded and poorly planned bus lines, with some metro lines restricted to the inner city
it's no good in any way
