That's definitely the word for what that thing that's out of service is called.

What are these things called again? I was thinking elevators but thats different.
>>1084505
Escalator. Because things escalate with them.

>China

No, that's the Port Authority.
They are called "rolling stairs" here
>>1084509
but what about when you're going down, do you call it a de-escalator or something
We call them rolly poly upsy-downies in England.
>>1084532
What do they call them in Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland, Chad?
>>1084532
only in southern england
septics forget about regional differences
northern england: poofter oopie downie floors
scousers: stabby sitty slides
westcountry: sorcerous gypsy stairs
scotland: noggin taboggin
northern ireland: satan's ever thrusting cock
wales: yscalladdors-y-saes
I don't bother with escalators anymore because they are constantly blocked by landwhales who just stand on them. The whole purpose of escalators is to expedite travel between levels; if one has mobility issues or or is simply lazy too to walk up a simple flight of stairs they are expected to use an elevator/lift.
Since I live in a country full of lethargic fatasses stationary stairs are always nice and empty, so I just use those. Takes me less than half the time.

Also, I wonder if any correlation can be drawn to the fact that my country is also overwhelmingly cage-dependant.
