Broad Gauge of the world and the old Brunel Broad Gauge from 1838-1892. So let's start a thread about it?

This?
Seems like China want to turm whatever broad gauge network within its reach into standard gauge. First would be Central Asia.

Sounds like 1890s era Great Western Railway here in the UK.
They were really useful engines.
Only operational Brunel gauge line on Earth is at Didcot Railway Centre in England.
Yes, it's broad gauge. 5 ft. 6 (1676 mm.) to be precise.

Yes. It's the only operational Brunel gauge locomotive on Earth.

I know. I was there to see it when I rode the Standard Gauge branchline close by.
I'm sorry if the photo is blurry.
>tfw Tiny will never be restored to working order

Not sure; maybe for higher speeds (it does seem to go pretty fast), stability, and more space for large crowds.
Thread deserves a bump
>>1080321
Not true. There are Tiny, North Star, Fire Fly and Iron Duke. There is potential for some of the outside/sandwich frame locos that exist are made partially from recycled Broad Gauge parts too.

That would actually be "Transit," britbong friend
There are 3 Brunel gauge locomotives in the Azores being restored and the Erie Railroad was originally built to broad gauge.
>>1089027
What happened to them?

They were pulled out of a dump in the 70's, were put into a shop to be restored with government funding and are still there in the shops caked in rust with next to no work done. They want to have them running though.

Pic of Erie Railroad 6ft gauge with a third rail for the Lehigh Valley Railroad.

They look quite pretty, despite being rusty that is.

I see, thanks for sharing.
