I'm guessing the OP pic is not a genuine one.

It's a real locomotive, the stuff on it is mere decoration

Wasn't in the movie herself, but she was a reference for the 3D model.

Rumor has it she almost made an appearence in Godzilla 2014. The idea was, being a steam engine, makes her immune to the MUTO's EMPs.

Can someone confirm this?

I'm not familiar with European and British rail equipment beyond some very basic knowledge. I'm assuming the American style pilot and diamond smokestack were added for a film? Pic is the J.W. Bowker, Virginia and Truckee #21. She has appeared in hundreds of movies and television shows set in the Old West and is the only surviving 2-4-0 Porter type built by Baldwin Locomotive Works.

I can't really say as I didn't see it, sorry Anon.
>>
>>1075724
Yeah I know of this locomotive, I saw a pic of it on Deviantart and what were the shows she was in?
>>
>>1075699
no, they used a diesel engine
>>
Was there a base train/inspiration they used in Back to the Future Part 3 or did they build it entirely out of scratch?
>>
>>1075815
For the locomotive used to push the delorean, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra_No._3

The Jules Verne Train (the one at the end of part III) is a complete fabrication for the movie, and doesn't seem to be based off of any specific type of locomotive.

Because union pacific wouldn't be happy to have their prized workhorse destroyed in a monster movie. MUTO's and trains don't mix well.

Also, why did they decide to transport live nuclear warheads by rail? Couldn't they just ferry them with a B-52?

I remember thinking the DODX flat cars were a nice touch in the movie.

I know for sure it was in the Have Gun, Will Travel episode, The Girl From Piccadilly. It also appeared in the Will Smith movie, Wild Wild West with the name Jupiter. It also appeared in the films Union Pacific and The Rock Island Trail.

CPR 2-8-0 #3716 used in many movies. The one I remember most was "The Journey of Natty Gann."

I was a little kid who also liked disaster flicks (Poseidon Adventure, Towering Inferno, Earthquake, Airport, etc) & I was allowed to stay up and watch this on tv when it came out.
