OP here from the last thread. I gave it a go just to see and easily got to 32 km/h on my mtn bike.
So I guess the question is how fast do you sustain over a distance of lets say 30 km
Me I'm usually at 27 km/h on a good day.
You can maintain an average speed of 27, but can't get past 32? Are you sure your gps/speedometer reacts quick enough?

I've just never really tried I guess.

End of the season goal.

Around 35 km/h if it's flat and the road isn't too russian.

I don't know, my average speed is about 28km/h on 60km rides in not really hilly terrain, or 30km h if I push a bit harder. On 80km+ rides I average 22-24km/h, I start good, but I finish a bit tired because I never eat anything and barely drink (I have done 100km on hot days with less than one bottle of water).
With proper eating and being hydrated I think I could do those 30km at 35km/h.
Average speed doesn't say much though. Where I ride there are many interruptions which cause my average to drop. Up hill, down hill, tail wind or head wind. It all affects the ride.

Average average speed, then.
Its easy to get up to a good speed from a stop as your inertia from acceleration is enough to temporarily overcome the wind resistance. But continued riding and the wind will pull you back to a lower speed.

>uphill and head wind are interruptions
Are you perchance from the lands of the nether?

I thought the Netherlands was extremely flat
