Hi there.
Got a 2013 Sp Tarmac Sport with little upgrades so far (ultegra brakes) on which i am now using a Shimano R500 wheelset that i cant complain about.
Thing is i was considering and upgrade and a friend has offered me his 18 month Mavic Cosmic Elites with nice Michelin tires for 200€.
Is it worth it? Would the difference be noticeable? Really i wanted to find some Ksyriums o something similar... Any options?
That's a pretty good price
I'd buy them and use them for events and during nice weather and keep the R500s as more "beater" type wheels

I got these last year, only a small difference from my cheapo shimano rs11 that came on my bike. Really the only thing I noticed is that I can coast a little longer

for 200 get them.mang
Are the differences between stock and medium-range-wheelsets (like Zonda, Ultegra, Ksyrium) really that big, or is it just placebo? There are some articles which tend to latter; e.g: http://www.biketechreview.com/index.php/reviews/wheels/63-wheel-performance Any physician here to validate?

erm...physicist of course

There may not be a massive performance benefit from upgrading your stock wheels as long as they're even semi decent. The biggest benefit of upgrading your wheels comes from getting wheels that aren't flexy and hold true.
But, say wheelsets like Fulcrum Racing 5 are more than enough for riding along, if you aren't called Greipel, Sagan or Cavendish ? So: More meme than vantage?

Yeah. As long as they're round and you don't flex them massively they're fine. I've never had any problems with any of my Campy/Fulcrum wheels.

OP here. Had a ride today with the guys and told him that i'll buy the cosmics. He is going to use the money to buy some carbon 50mm+ supersonicwhatever to better match his S-Works new frame... So everybody is happy, even our local dealer.
Thanks for the input /n/, really helped to decide.
