/OSG/ - Owen Sound General
Enough big city spam, it's time to embrace small city charm. Owen Sound has a massive transit system encompassing the entire city with regular service.
>buses
>ferry service
>good taxi system
>installing bike paths throughout the city
>quick to get from one part of town to another
>central station is actually central
When will /n/ embrace the small city master race?

Only poorfags, the elderly, and mentally disabled people use public transit, everyone else has a CAR. Sperging out on public transit, unless you're a City Counsel member, is a sure sign of some sort of mental disorder. Better check yourself.
welp, I'm convinced
fuck it, I'm moving.

There are other methods of transit throughout Owen Sound. The road system is very well maintained, especially in comparison to other towns.
4 major routes out of the city(north, south, west, and east).
A block style system in large parts of the city. There is a grocery store right downtown, on the outskirts on both sides etc, hardware stores on both sides of town as well as downtown.
The city is perfect no matter what /n/ says.

Funny, I was just about to make a thread about small cities with superb transit systems. This certainly looks like a great one.
Anyone got any others (preferably in North America)? It can be a suburb too as long as it's a small one.

Morgantown, WV might fit the bill. It has a small personal transit system. Not the biggest one but pretty impressive for a town of its size.

>part of the snowmobile transit system closed due to revoked land use rights

>main bridge through town needs replacing because it is 106 years old

Checked some info.
Well, the bus schedule doesn't look very impressive, it doesn't even work on Sundays, wtf.
>>1048026
Most stores are closed on Sundays, same with work. The only thing going on is church.

Mariánské Lázně is the smallest town in Czechia to have trolleybus system. The town has population of 13k and 4 trolleybus and 3 bus routes. Duribg workdays the main line operates in less than 15 minute interval, during Sunday there's a half hour interval.
>>1048027
So nobody ever leaves their home on Sundays or what?
>>1048030
Some do, but usually they have cars. The town has a very significant senior population who usually are at church or something a long those lines. But for me it has always been church + family stuff/working on the farm .
Man! Never thought I'd see my city posted up here. The transit system is alright but it is mostly used by seniors, the mentally challenged, and people with DUI's. The frequency isn't all too great so you still pretty much have to have a car.
No population growth? Shit town.

True, no economic growth is a pretty bad sign. It seems like a lot of growth exists in towns right by it like Collingwood.
>>1047955
>meandering bus system that stops running at 6pm
>decent half-hour frequency
>but no Sunday service and bad service on Saturdays
>practically zero bike infrastructure and super-wide car lanes
What is this "small-city charm" you speak of?

the best small-town bus networks in the US and Canada are found in college towns (like Ithaca, State College and Champaign) and resort towns (such as Aspen and Park City)
