desu, I grew up in fear of elevators. Still not comfortable about them and have been known to take the stairwell as much as 18 floors (our highest building) because it was an old rickety thing that made unnatural noises and shakes.

January 2010, I was stuck in 5 separate elevators. FIVE fucking times! Never have before or since. wtf...

Enough about me. Two impressive elevator survival episodes: the lady who survived the 80 floor freefall when the bomber crashed into the Empire State Building; and the last guy from the Windows of the World restaurant on 9/11 who sat alone in his elevator car trapped because of the emergency locks. Later pries open the doors effortlessly when WTC2 collapsed & killed the power and walks outside past firemen standing around doing nothing moments before WTC1 collapses.

The guy who spent 41 hrs trapped in one makes me laugh, but in all honestly I would prob be traumatized. kek..

It's a normal paternoster elevator, there are hundreds of them out there, mainly in public buildings with big demand for vertical transport.

I don't recall any accident like that. There are sensors that stop the machine if anything hangs outside of the cabin.

Ya in canada elevator inspection certificates have to be posted in public. I see many that have expired. For some reason slmist sll are in Asian owned buildings.
