Went to my LBS for spare tubes for my 27,5 inch wheels. MFW this guy never heard of this kind of wheel size.
MFW 26+ is the new flavor of the month wheel size because 27.5+ was actually more like a 29er and no longer hip.
>>1039288
Sonic pressure.
>>1039279
mtb industry is a fucking meme. Roads bike sport has more than 100 years and the changes on the wheels have been pretty minimal.
>>1039304
29 should be the only MTB size.
>>1039279
Maybe he didn't connect 650b and 27.5 as being the same
Fel when fell for the 27.5 meme
Fel when fell for the tapered steerer meme
Fel when fell for the suspension meme
Fel when fell for the x1 meme
>>1039386
If there was one size it should be 27.5
>>1039288
i'm still on 26-
>>1039279
They need to pick a fucking standard size instead of jumping between trends and memes. 26" was fucking fine on all the mountain and cruiser bikes I ever owned. When I got my first 29ers (both MTB and cruiser) I was just like "okay". I have never rode a 27.5" bike and don't really want to. It's another invented size. At least 29" matches road bike wheels. To make things worse, 27.5" gets fairly often confused with the 27" old road bike size (I still have a Schwinn in this size).
>>1039449
Hmm. Not sure if I feel this way about disc brakes too. They won't ever destroy the wheel (my main reason for disliking rim brakes), but I'm not really happy with them screeching and they don't really stop faster except when it's wet.
>>1039449
Yeah, don't bother. My brother is still enjoying his 26". I gave my old department store 26" to some kid and I think it got stolen in like 3 days.
Do bikes with larger wheels go faster than ones with small wheels? Yes; provided the wheels are turning at the same RPM. You have to put proportionately more effort into turning a big wheel but it will go faster if you can keep it spinning at the same rate as a small one.
I have 650b XC wheels w/ not very aggro 2.1 tires. I can roll over stuff easier than on 26 but thats the only difference I notice. I hate the plus trend b/c they are heavy and slow. I rode 1.95s forever and now its hard to find anything under 2.2.
>>1042282
>I rode 1.95s forever and now its hard to find anything under 2.2.
Basically only department store bikes have 1.95 tires on 26" wheels. They haven't changed anything. I ride two 29" bikes and don't really care about them. They do go over bumps easier, but it doesn't really matter. I use a 20" folding bike off road all the time.
>>1042286
meanwhile...at walmart
>>1042287
I have the 29" Genesis one and like it. There's no real reason for 29" on a cruiser, but my mountain bike was, so I got a bike with a compatible size. 32 inches is crazy though. At least if wal-mart does it and makes it uncool, they care the mainstream mountain bike manufacturers from trying it.
>>1039443
You have clearly never enjoyed a modern MTB friendo
>>1039443
>x1 meme
I will never get this. You're "crossing" your chain 90% of the time and "the Industry" told me it's bad!
>26
>27.5
If only manlets disappeared we would have had the same wheel size for all disciplines already.
Fucking drown yourself you sub human 5'XX scum.
I just don't get it. What was wrong with 26"? My 26" department store aluminum MTB served me for many years. When I finally got a new one in 2015, I found that decent bikes were mostly 29" or 27.5". Then I got a 29" cruiser because I wanted the tires to be interchangeable.
>>1042467
>mfw I'm faster than all lanklets I've ever come across
Stay mad faggot, 5' 10" is the perfect size for a male.
>>1042467
>5'11 is too short for 29"
I have to put the seats pretty much all the way up on both of my 29" bikes.
>Not realizing 27.5 is older than 700c.
40,000 Keks.
>>1045008
Yeah, but Americans had no reason to use it before the MTB market became desperate to change wheel sizes every few years, to make people buy new bikes/wheels while still having a preexisting standard to rely on.
>>1045012
>Yeah, but Americans had no reason to use it before the MTB market...
Wrongo. There's been a healthy community of randogrouches riding 650b Constructeurs across the great US of A for decades now.
You sound an awful lot like someone who's butthurt about putting $$$ into a good 26" or 29" MTB just to find out later that 27.5 is the "new standard" and being laughed at my freds.
>>1045020
I don't care about some euro touring bike shit.
My 26" was fine, and all my bikes were 26" since at the time I only rode MTB and cruiser bikes. We don't need three different sizes. They tried to push 29", and it didn't fit short riders so they went to 27.5" instead of letting 29" become a dying fad. It's not like America switching over to 700c for road bikes back in the 80s. 700c was the world standard and that was a good change to make. I would rather go 29" than 27.5" since there is at least some overlap with road bikes and I can put hybrid tires on my MTB without ordering them online.

Why do people say "except when it's wet" like it's a valid opinion? If wet stops are a rare niche requirement you don't ride bikes and should ask a cyclist for help
>>1045501
Most cyclists are fair-weather riders and don't go out in rain, and there are also plenty of people who live in arid climates where rain is an uncommon kind of weather.
>>1039304
>changes on the wheel pretty minimal
>can't get a 630/25 in a city of 300k because deprecated lol
No surprises there. In my experience most LBS's hire someone like the owners nephew hwo doesn't know or give a shit about bikes. All they can really tell you is what the bikes cost and do they have suspensions or not.
I had this one time when I pointed the sales person behind the counter to the box that had separate presta valves for a tubeless setup. He didn't know what they were or if they even had them. I had gotten them from there before and had a rough idea where they were located on the shelf behind the counter.
>>1045501
>Why do people say "except when it's wet" like it's a valid opinion?
I ride in all weather dude. I can't manually control the weather to rain more often to impress you. I live in Ohio, ride daily, and get plenty of rain. When it is rainy I can notice a difference between rim and disc brakes. Otherwise, not. It's that simple.
>>1045513
I live in a city of 60k and multiple bike shops and big box stores have the old 27" road bike size. Even a small village nearby has them
>>1045513
Is your frame really unable to accommodate 32-630?
>>1045559
Didn't know people just stopped to show off. I've been doing it wrong all my life!
I love buying very fancy used 26" trail bikes
for fucking peanuts.
Long live bike industry.
>>1045490
"No" what, you mong?
>>1045730
That is... an unusually specific desire.
>>1042287
pre bent top tubes for amerifat
>>1045771
Gotta be just right :^)
>>1042287
Man fucking americans have the best department store bikes.
>>1039446
No, it should be 26".
>>1045513
If you mean tubes, yes you can, 622 and 630 use the same tubes. If you mean tires, you should be able to find 630, but not many options because it is deprecated. However, in the past century there has been ONE change in road wheel/tire diameter, from 630 to 622. (and one change in width, going from 21 to 23; 25 is a meme and all 25ers should be gassed) With mountain bikes, the industry keeps pushing new shit-tier memes like 29", 650b, dropper posts, 1x, etc. (I acknowledge 1x is great for dh and enduro, but it shouldn't be pushed on xc). It's all marketing memes. And FUCK DROPPER POSTS
Of course road bikes kinda have the same thing with electronic drive trains, the one thing worse than dropper posts
So on second though... Yeah fuck the industry on both sides. Get an OTS and a rigid 90s mtb, fuck the rest.
>>1042287
That is the ultimate meme bike. People that ride those deserve to be run over by cagers.
Try asking for parts for this bad boy, they look at you like an alien being.
I had one guy tell me it was just a prototype and I will never find parts.
>>1046051
its not hard to find parts for that you pleb unless you want original USA cannondale. Risse has an air shock for it and headshock sucked- the rest is standard issue 90s shit. Also I found one for <$1k: http://budgetbicyclectr.com/1994-cannondale-delta-v-700-mountain-bicycle-20.html
>>1046058
That is a 94 front suspension only.
The collectible ones are 92 full suspension..
First one ever made.
>>1046066
my bad- i only looked at the tiny pic.
>>1046037
>25 is a meme and all 25ers should be gassed
Stopped reading there, unfounded irrational hatred is illogical.
>>1046051
lmao you are just so god damn proud of that bike, aren't you?
>>1046037
>FUCK DROPPER POSTS
fuck you, buddy
>>1046037
1x and dropper posts are the best thing ever in MTB.
Wide enough gear range without cross chaining and the ability get the saddle out the way and not hit your dick when riding gets rough.
>>1039399
650 is a girl's size. 27.5 is for men.
>>1046072
clown bikes are a meme
