Cygolite 460 but it uses a basic ass rubber mount and I miss my cygolite 550.
>>
I have a Cateye volt 800 headlight
And various taillights
A cateye rapid x and rapid x2
some lezyne drive thing

Don't often need 800 lumens but it lasts forever on the low setting which is enough for most things.
>>
Some USB-rechargable chink shit on the rear, no front light. They blind me.

Planet Bike Blaze 500 XLR. Great light. As bright if not brighter than a car headlight. Just point it DOWN toward the road. Beware if you have THICC bars like me you need to buy a mount from Planet Bike for like $5.
>>
>>1023956
Cygolite Pace 850 on my helmet and a Niterider 2-watt taillight, both of which are USB rechargable. If I'm on my TT bike at night, I've got a couple 200-lumen lights I also put on the forks, so if I have to sit up from the aero crouch position, I've still got light pointing ahead without having to put my chin all the way down to my chest or readjust the light on my helmet.

Quite frankly you're being dumb about this.
Note that I'm not saying that to you to bully, mock, or ridicule you, but I am being blunt and honest with you, as a fellow avid cyclist, in your best interests.

Need I remind you that, pretty much everywhere, it's illegal to ride a bike at night without some sort of headlight and taillight, in addition to it being stupidly dangerous? If you get hit by a car at night -- assuming you survive -- and you have no lights whatsoever, you won't have a leg to stand on in any lawsuit because you were violating the law, riding in an unsafe manner.

Most bicycle headlights and taillights attach without any tools and can be removed for daytime riding, and I really don't think any other cyclist who is worth listening to, even on another fixie, is going to give you shit for having lights at night and therefore not being unsafe and violating the law.

Lecture over. No one can make you do anything, it's up to you if you're going to continue being dumb or not.

I have Busch + Müller ixon pure and ix-post rear.

I also have the ixon IQ if I want to light up the whole road and the bushes too.

The pure gives kind of a square shaped light and the IQ gives kind of a wide rectangle.

standard in the way that 45% of the population around here commutes on bike and i guess 90% of them has these lights on their bikes
>>
XT Dynamo hub + a 70 lux Busch & Müller front and a 20 lux in the back.

Dynamo lights are ubiquitous here mostly because they are mandatory in Germany and since Germany is the biggest bike market bike makers tend to sell the same models in other European countries, bar Britain.
>>

I beg to differ.

Lezyne macrodrive + small lezyne on the racing biek (crabon specialized roubaix). Sp-8 dynamo hub + supernova light on the canyon commuter I have orderd.

>>1023956 Some tips for noobs...
Higher lumens are not always better. Lower is usually faaaar better with lots of ambient lighting such as in a city. (Bright lights can un-adjust your eyes and hinder you in these situations.)

5-20 lumens = inner city at night.
100 lumens = back roads at night.
400+ lumens = outdoors, forest at night.

Always have a front and rear light. Rear light is even more important if you're in the city.
>>
>>1024617
Also get a bell if you do a lot of city.

>>1024022
Get a lower lumen light, you'll enjoy it a lot more.
>>
Is it the norm to remove lights when riding during the day?
>>
>>1024816
no one really cares tbqh, you may as well leave them on since it is november and sunset comes quick.
>>
MagicShine MJ-816E LED Bike Light
1800 lumen of fuck yeah. And something decent on the back.
>>
Cygolite Metro and Cygolite Hotshot are literally the best lights on the market.
>>
Philips Saferide 60 dyno lights front and back. Very happy with them, put the right amount of light in all the right places. Good build quality and not tacky looking.

I've been angry at people stealing my bike lights constantly, but I'm too lazy and disorganized to take them with me every time I lock it.

I've been using the theft-proof fortified lights and I'm very happy with them. Very bright. Big Battery (usually only 1-2 charges during the week). Different modes for blinking/constant illumination.
No one was able to steal them till now...
>>
Chink Led torch with a handlebar mount for front.

Regular blinking chink multi-LED shitlamp for rear.

In the city it's enough, and I'm far more concerned with cagers seeing my eye-abusing rear blinker than front.

Front is enough to light the path in front of me when I have late-night classes.
>>
>>1024948
I just use cheap ass removable chink lights that are chargable via microusb.

I just remove em' in my pocket when commuting
>>
>Lezyne Power Drive 900XL
>Lezyne Macro Drive 800XL

As a mountain biker all you need is a helmet mounted front light. Sadly I need 2 as the batteries aren't changeable.
>>
>>1024962
I used to do this, but then both my lights were stolen when I was in a store for 10 min. After this I said fuck it, I'm gonna get theft proof bicycle lights.
>>
USB charging seems like a plus however I have my suspicion about the lifespan of unremovable batteries on these things. How long do they last? 2-3 years?
>>
>>1024948
i had a thieve clip my $3 ultrafire light off my bike that was secured with hose clamps. they'll remove your whole handlebar and seatpost and clip any cabling securing it. it's best to just take your light with you.
>>
>>1023956
cheapo $40 for both with elastics so i can change between bikes.
>>
>>1025623

>>
>>1025623
Link? I've been looking to buy some of those just so I can put them on my beater and be able to transfer them around the bikes I have. I've had a light mount stolen before and I don't want to bother with that anymore.

Nobody in here uses a headlamp?!? I think it's a lot better than a mounted bike light and obviously a lot more versatile too, since you can use it for much more than just bicycle riding.

I was very happy with this Black Diamond Revolt USB rechargeable until it stopped taking a charge recently. I think I need a new set of batteries now.

These are great but they sometimes turn on in my bag and run out of battery which can be annoying. I carry a mobile charger these days as my cellphone battery is shit so it's not such an issue.

Also slightly off topic but do other ridi/n/gmen ever see people using high lumen headlights as signal lights and pointing them forward/upward at your fucking eyes? Signal lights are not the same thing as flashlights made to light your way, I'm sick of being fucking blinded by other cyclists pointing 300 lumen lights directly at my eyes as they ride by
>>
>>1025820

Headlamp, always. And my red blinky, clipped on the back of the headlamp strap.

Bonuses:

- having the lights up high, means the cars see you way sooner, from further away - cars in between us aren't blocking the light.

- don't have to remember to take the lights off the bike when you lock up

- at an intersection, my green, car in the opposite lane waiting for a break in the traffic to make a left turn across my path... might not see me... trivial easy to point my light at his windshield a couple times, catch his attention, make sure he does see me coming.

That's why good headlights create a rectangular spot you can nicely adjust. If you wear a headlamp, it also helps not to stare at people too long.

For side lighting I have a led light strip. The battery lasts 50 hours, but I only use it in traffic. Usually I'm on a MUP and stick to my two cygo metrolites and a tail light.

Hard to tell from the pic, but I aim a bright light far ahead of me, and a dimmer light about 15~20 feet or so.

I've got a schmidt edelux II (and a Sondelux wheel & a son rear light) waiting to go on a new build.

I just made a bracket out of an old centerpull break arm, to attach the edelux to the front rack. I also have to solder some connectors and work out cable runs. My rear rack has a mount for the rear light.

I'm pretty hyped.

I have some bontrager Flare lights i use. Got em for free from trek

the rear one is a flare r. works well, pretty bright. only problem is doesnt clamp on well to my aero seatpost

front one is a ion 100 or something? 100 lumens, Not very bright but its made for city light, less for seeing the road infront of you more for cars seeing you. it's really small and compact which is nice but battery runs out a lot

I have a 25CAD Solar force knock off. it's only 400L, works pretty good innawoods.

Good enough flood, though I might buy a proper 18650 cell at some point.

>>1024617
This is pretty acurate IF you have decent optics. Having 2 inch spot a 30m away isn't to handy, nor is lighting up the trees.

>>1024054

Bridgelux Decor ultra vero 18 with a driver that puts it at 5 watt.
Simple reflector and a sloppy casing because I am not very handy.

It's a great light.

Though way overkill.
