>>

Not even Marathon pluses can deal with those.
>>
>>1008977
If you're on a mountain bike, go tubeless.

Road, avoid riding through fields of weeds.
>>
>>1008987
Tubeless is useless with goatheads. Some malevolent divinity designed them to grow spines just large enough to prevent sealants from working.
>>
Options

1. Schwalbe Marathon series tires
2. "thorn tube" inner tubes
3. Tubeless tires with sealant

Hookworms with a fuckload of sealant and glitter. inb4 too slow. Fast tires aren't fast when you have to pull over and fix flats.

Helps the sealant seal slices better, helps the sealant coagulate batter too.
>>
Latex sealant AND thick tubes AND super thick tires, lower pressures, super wide tires, vigilant riding so you don't plow them, and preventative blowtorching.

And it's still not perfect.
>>
>>1009020
isnt that better than getting a flat fucking away from home? or when leaving home?

No worries on the MTB with tubeless other than when they stay in the tire and embed themselves in my hand when I'm lifting the bike later.

I heard a leak once when I pulled out a mesquite thorn, but it sealed up when I shook the wheel.

There are only three choices, Sherlock:
(1) you are religious
(2) you are not religious
(3) you don't know WTF you are
Choose one, faggot.
>>
>>1008977
all three of these:
• thorn-resistant tubes
• tyre liners (e.g. Mr.Tuffy)
• sealant (e.g. Slime)
... yes, it's heavier
... it's also faster than a flat

Well, /n/, just remember that those which do pierce the tyre and dislodge into a nice patch for them to grow will only have that 'tire-piercing' gene spread throughout the population.
Ultimately, the more that pierce, the more there'll be.

Put stans or bontrager sealant into your tubes. Or go tubeless. Remember that air cartridges will give you stans goblins faster. Diy cost with single serve bontrager sealant $10usd. Also bontrager > stans for non-racing applications

I've seen some cheap conti touring tires or even thick slicks survive a hit from those going going over 30 step up your game. Decent cx tires though
>>
What type of bike do you ride? Try a tire liner or use an old innertube to line your tires
>>
>>1009031
I love these, they're so fun to ride b/c of how strong they are. They last a while too.
>>1009094
Solid tubes have a higher chance of the tire bead slipping out during turns. There is not near as much pressure going to the tire bead as compared to a tube pumped to even 40psi. I would not recommend.
>>1014820
Using an old innertube works well, just make sure that you spread the old tube on the inside of the tire evenly.

I personally live in the middle of the fucking desert and I just have conti tour ride and slime tubes. I get goatheads all of the time but they're never deep enough as to not be sealed by the slime.

Tubeless is fantastic for offroad and should usually be considered with the tech these days.

If you're riding road, the same tire built from non tubeless to TLR can be almost 2x the weight in the tire itself, and then 30-40ml of sealant. You do not get less punctures with tubeless, but they seal in a tenth of a second permanently.

Currently, I've tried and setup my customers with tubeless road and have tried my hardest to make it work for everyone. But the tires stretch past the tolerance to re-seat them to the rim often is the biggest issue that I've had with road. No amount of recommended practice from the companies I deal with can accommodate for tires stretching an extra couple millimeters radially. If you're running >35c tires, it's fine and you won't have issues down the road and you'll seal flats as you ride immediately.

No loving god would ruin your life with go theads.

These were my nightmare during my childhood. My father refused to fix my flat tires after many goathead incidents and I was trapped at home.

Hey, op.
You have to try Rubbered PVC fabric (RPVC), which is the fabric used to build army's zodiac boats. It's a solution cheaper and better than the slime's plastic armor.

Well:
-First, measure the total circumference of your wheels full of air, and the width.
-Second, cut the material. Keep in mind covering the rolling zone only. To give you an idea, the lenght i cut that shit was 2.2 times my wheel's circumference, and the width was about 1' for 2.2' xc tires.
-third, cut the end and begin edges, make them round to avoid self-flating

If you don't have a long rpvc fabric to work with, you can glue a couple of them to reach the length, caring to round edges before gluing.
If the tape is still flating the tubes after that, you can cover the edges with a piece of old tube.

It cant stand against nails and screws, but it protects pretty well against wires, glass, edgy rocks, cactus spines and the shits which are messing your trips. Trust me, even if my english sucks.

Differences between this and slime's plastic shit:
-the the plastic gets dry and breakable after a couple of months, but rpvc is like new even after 2000 km and 3 flats.
-easier to mount than plastic.
-cheap to buy than plastic.
-in the case of a flat on rpvc, the hole of penetration doesn't mean a risk of self-flatting. you cannot say the same in plastic case.

Good luck.
