The climate, hills and scenery would be beautiful. Are the motorists nice to cyclists?
>>
>>1007050
People in Santiago usually complain about motorists being too agressive, but I've noticed most of them can't ride a bike at all. I've been commuting +10 years around the city and I've never had an accident.

When it comes to touring motorists in Chile are way more respectful than those in Argentina and Bolivia, I've rode 2500 km of the Pan-American Highway without any kind of sketchy situation.

It's very arbitrary. Duh.

>yo this country looks nice let's put it in the list

That's literally it. You could swap a lot of countries in the list for others and make a good argument for each of them. FFS, you could literally remove France and add Italy instead but keep the description for France lol. Nobody would notice.
Most of these countries aren't particularly good for "touring" per se but are only in the list for their landscape. A good biking destination requires a good biking infrastructure.

Top tier cycling destinations would be the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, the UK. Bike shops in all small towns, tons of dedicated cycling paths and lanes, good road conditions and road network, considerate drivers, most people know at least basic English etc. Cycling is easy, efficient and comfy in these countries.
But ofc these countries don't have dramatic mountain landscapes like Bumfuckistan so they didn't make the list for the hipsteresque RealTraveler™ on a bike.

Ofc you can cycle in Tajiskistan too and I'm sure it's a beautiful country but that doesn't make it a particularly good destination for bicycle touring. Good luck finding a bike mechanic in Istaravshan.

Like to ride 40-80km with the odd century, average speeds usually 26-28kmph with cruising speeds of 30-32 kmph on routes without too much climbing.
I only ride roads and try to stick to cycle-lanes roads or cycling friendly dual-laned roads. Like to share the lead/draft and try to signal/call hazards when necessary.

OP, might be able to try a ride if you can get up to Plenty Road north of the ring road. Maybe do some laps at Yarra Boulevard but I have been there for a whole since I had to change tubes due to the infamous Boulie Tacker

I used to ride Beach Road a lot but I was living much closer to the city.

No idea what happened to be honest, maybe the brakes locked up after I was on the ground lol.

I'm pretty stiff right now due to the crash but I'd be keen to actually ride all the way to whittlesea in a week. It's 40km there and 40km back so it would be a decent ride. You keen?

>>1013160
So we were riding around North Reservoir, on the border of thomastown Australia and I said "Hey, let me show you the shittest supermarket in Melbourne" and pretty much like a couple of seconds after that I hit a speed bump and inexplicably went over the handlebars and smashed my shoulder into the ashphalt.

We were joking that it was instant karma because I ended up buying bandaids from that supermarket.

The guy I was riding with got all meta and started saying shit like "What is a supermarket, really?" and "hypothetically I could conceive of a supermarket that is shitter than this one".

My front brake was fucked and my back brakes were really weak so I'm getting them fixed this week before our next ride lol. I was fine until the next day when I felt really stiff :(

Ay hows your joints? My other cyclist friend got diagnosed with osteoarthritis in his knees, my grandma had the same disease. Shit sucks.

If you can't cycle I'd be down to play table tennis there are some tables in the Brunswick area.>>1017506

By beginner rider I mean I only have 300 miles clocked on my bike. Havn't been riding competitive or anything like that, mostly just casual riding. Shiggy that's pretty close to the trail. Idk if I'm man enough to meet someone irl

>>
>>1018999
Still pretty shit. I don't think cycling is the cause though. It's my upper back/shoulder/neck not my knees.
I'm going to see my physio tomorrow, but not cycling hasn't helped so I'll probably start again.
Are you free on saturday the 29th? I have exams after that so that weekend is probably the last time I can go for a ride for a few weeks.

Also, I ended up ordering a redmi note 3.
>>
>>1019141
Nice! I'm over in Park Slope but I work near the Brooklyn Bridge, like I said super easy for me to get into the city if anything, and I haven't really been by Stuytown much before (or the Upper East Side in general). Fun cycling up there?

I'm off the Burke Gilman too. I'm the surly delivery guy. What time would Be Good for you?

Hey, this weekend would Be Good, if that works for you. Although, I do have some things going on this weekend so I won't be able to do anything too lengthy.

Same i work the entire weekend. Picked up extra day today.

What's your kik? And how's your surly set up?

Yeah should be free on that day.

Hope you like the phone, flash a fresh rom as soon as you get it!

Xiaomi EU. It's based on the China rom with a bunch of bloat and Chinese stuff stripped out but you can also use cyanogenmod for a more pure android.

Salem, Oregon

Most I've ever ridden in a day was 70 miles (to the ocean, camped for the night, rode back the next day), but that was an all day affair out in the country. I usually like to keep it chill, it's more important to have fun than to bomb through every intersection at maximum speed or wtv.

I'm down to do day rides around town, I head up to Portland occasionally, and I'm also planning an extended bikepacking adventure around the state, although the logistics of doing that without a car of my own are a bit sketchy atm.

I have a mechanical keyboard and it is awesome but the mechanical keyboard fanatics are super autistic... Caring so much about switches that you argue about it on the net is ridiculous.

I just want the Thinkpad for a comfy shitposting machine that will last a really long time and specs wise it is better than any netbook and is upgradeable.

I'm probably going to upgrade the screen, upgrade the ram and upgrade the processor to an i7. I found out you can also install an Nvidia heatsink which reduces temps quite a lot.

Looking forward to putting Arch Linux on it and ricing.

Meh.
Thinkpads are pretty comfy though. Is it first or second hand?
I bought a second hand t500 4 years ago and it's hels up pretty well other than having shitty battery life and the fan needing new bearings. I've never had any problems with drivers or anything on archlinux either.

Also are you down for another ride?
I'd be keen on doing a bigger one again like when we went to whittlesea.
