Good album /mu/ if you like British music. Anyone else like Blur? This is my favourite album they released, closely followed by Parklife or Self titled (unsure which one I prefer)

I like 13 and Magic Whip the best

Just sounds like a poor happy mondays stone roses derivative.

Good choices. Honestly I like all their albums. They did truely win the Britpop war, Oasis just fell off after Be Here Now (which was pretty shit)
>>
90s teen britfag. Blur are better than oasis but still fucking shite.

Best britpop era brit band: sfa or blackgrape

Best actual brit band in the 90s: The Fall

Exhibit A:

Thats my favourite Blur album and For Tomorrow is their best song.

Its very influenced by mid to late period XTC (English Settlement & Nonesuch) with a bit of Madness thrown in ("My Name Is Michael Caine" sounds more like a Blur track than a Madness song these days).

So much so they got Andy Partridge to produce it and then sacked him because he didn't want to sound like himself as much as they did.

Recordings remain, what do you think?

The Fall are a force of nature that almost defies rational evaluation. Agree on SFA, not so keen on Black Grape although I liked Reverend Black Grape as a nightclub track.

Recently dug Dog Man Star out, thats an amazing kitchen-sink of an album to listen to all the way through in a darkened room.

OP here, god I fucking love Sunday Sunday and this version is pretty great. Very strange sound these recordings have, really a notch less poppy.

I reckon whats going on there is that Andy knows its basically a sort of Kinks track so makes it sound a bit more like them than Blur were comfortable with.
That was the other thing about Blur, Kinks>Beatles.

PARKLIFE
>>
>>75173384
OP still in love with brit pop.

Came here to post these. The mixes and singing are so stark. Might be biased because I'm a huge XTC fan, but I think the album could have been great instead of just good if they stuck with Andy.

I fucking love this one and 13
