I think Thom has a philosophical ideology that technology largely separates or maybe isolates people, but that it's sort of an unstoppable behemoth. So I always thought of it as either, "Ok, computer, ok, I give up you win" or that we're all turning into desensitized computers, not good, not bad, just ok, like in Fitter Happier.
