This shit is boring as hell and completely forgettable. Why did anybody ever like this band?
I like Funeral because it maintains the good atmospheric aspects of indie rock while spicing up the often boring songwriting the genre has with colorful instrumentation.

This album is a spectacular epic
thanks for your opinion

It is a product of its time. Sadly.

It's funny because that describes Neon Bible and The Suburbs but Funeral is still fresh as hell

I'd like to say that Andrew Bird's Mysterious Production of Eggs is actually the best indie rock album from that period, but probably safe to assume that with that reaction to Funeral you won't like that one either

I like the first track a lot, but I'll agree to an extent. The gimmick of just having a fuck ton of different instruments, without much actual creativity going into how they play off and with each other, was sort of novel for indie at the time I think. But Arcade Fire are not so special, especially in retrospect.
I agree with you. shitty album, terrible band

What's more orchestral indie rock then?

I don't know if I have a satisfying answer, but Joanna Newsom uses in better, some of the better Grizzly Bear albums have an element of orchestration, Dirty Projectors have some good stuff too. It's not just about orchestral as it is about being creative with your instrumentation as a whole, be it with electronics, percussion, orchestras, choirs, etc. The thing about AF is that they have so much stuff at their disposal, but they often just use it for wall-of-sound as opposed to counterpoint and dynamics and textures.
