It's always funny to me that people see Sufjan as sad banjo guy. A lot of his songs are happy, beautiful, touching, heartfelt, etc. He occasionally does a sad song, which stands out because his albums are filled with so many other emotions. Especially his Illinois era stuff often feels like a book, with a whole journey he goes through on each album. His LPs cover a wide range of emotions usually, as do his individual songs at times.
Yet he is forever sad banjo man with long song titles (which once again he's barely ever done. The long titles are only on his state albums).
