There are many cops who are members of the KKK, and there are even some inter-department groups that are openly racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. that not only target civilians for harassment, and out right murder, they even target other police officers even if they work at the same precinct. I'm not interested in the whole ragged-clothes thing or just wearing whatever and looking dirty and not showering. Most people who dress like that come from privilege. They can dress like that and still have their privilege. They can move through the world comfortably like that. People who don't come from that privilege, if we dress that way, we just won't be considered real people. I have crust-punk friends, when I meet them and think you know the fact that you can dress that way, means that if at any point shit gets real, you can go home to mom and dad.

Yeah, my friends got into the whole crust scene a long time ago but the only ones who dressed up are the ones with money.
I actually bought a denim jacket because I dig the aesthetic to a degree, but I'm embarrassed by the idea of wearing it because I've built up an association of a stupid punk uniform that these posh fucks all wear.
I go to some shows in my regular clothes and I get a fierce stink eye from the majority of people there - most of them in their 30s at these shows - and if you try to talk to them they literally turn their nose up. Fucking toxic community for the most part.
