You should really put more effort into your music. Don't just make a part that goes for 20 seconds and loop it for 3 minutes. NOBODY is going to want to hear that. It gets monotonous really quickly. If you expect people to listen and enjoy your music, then give them a reason to. Write a melody. Explore pitch, rhythm, dynamics, texture and structure. Think about music-making from the perspective of the listener. Would you want to hear a whole album of songs like this, wherein each song consists of roughly 20-30 seconds of unique music, which is just looped for 3 minutes.

You should keep working with the track. Add a melody, or some lyrics. Try adding different sections that use different sounds, like verses and choruses. You can keep the main choir part looping throughout, and then just put the other parts on top. There should be a sense of progression in the track, like you're working towards something, whether it be a climactic ending section or something like that.

>>75136256 Reviewed this the other day but here's what I have to say about it. "I really enjoy this project! The mix could be better and I think you can improve your vocal performance by practicing every day! Nonetheless, I dig it :)"
>>75136301 Very interesting textures here, especially your bass that comes in and out. Though it is very simplistic I am hooked into the beat the whole song
>>75136346 LOL! This is pretty damn hillarious! Man is this vocal mix botched though senpai. I also don't think you should have used auto-tune because you weren't singing. If you make another song like this with better vocals though, this type of comedy rap could make you blow up!!
>>75136407 Defintley unique! I would defintley shorten up that intro to around 10 seconds. On the main part of the beat I think if you added some more instrumentation it would have been more interesting, this sound can get a tad bit boring if it is looped continuously. One more thing, I would consider making your beats much shorter, like around one minute and thirty seconds if they have a similar vibe so you don't loose peoples attention and they end up skipping your beat :)
Here's My First Beat!

>>75136413 Couldn't listen because I don't have spotify. I would upload all of your songs to soundcloud and youtube as well so people can access them easily
>>75136485 I really enjoy the vibe of this song! However, the sub par vocal mix takes away the potential of this song. I would really focus on your vocal mixes my man
>>75136531 I reviewed a few days ago, but here's what I have to say. "Solid work, build ups and drops are on point. It is very mellow so I was skeptical if it was going to get boring, but it stayed funky!"
>>75136541 Man this whole project is very unique! Surprisingly mixed very well too, for being a first release :) Keep up the good work and I am sure people will gravitate :)
>>75136568 Going to be honest and say that this type of music is not for me; however, this is a very unique sound. Very "skitsofrenic sounding" if you will. The production on this is also quite solid for this type of sound. Would have liked a better mix, but nonetheless I was stoked to hear something experimental.

Shit man I'm not a huge hip hop fan and you actually made me like this, not bullshiting. Audio-quality wise, I think the track sounds a little bit too distant, I'd make it a little more bright, I don't know how to explain it.
>>75143068
Same as the comment above. Audio-quality wise, the synth at the end sounds a little bit cheap or fake.
hey /mu/ I'm a huge post-rock/space-rock fan and I used to be frequent in /mu/ and bandcamp threads but in 2014 I stopped and turned to drugs and fast forward 2017 I kinda fucked up in life and been sober for a week and I'm an actual drug addict that has ODed, been close to death multiple times, been to rehab and has to go to NA meetings. I actually released something in 2014 but I genuinely hate it now.
Because of the void that the drugs left I've turned to music again, except my skills have changed and I've gotten better equipment and a better guitar and I've actually found something I can play and genuinely would like to record.
https://soundcloud.com/lonestarstate/cancion-2
I just improvised this, but this is basically the concept, do you think it's alright? I'm more concerned about the audio quality, do you think it's alright? The strings are brand new and they kinda sound too bright, I'm still trying to figure how to make the sound a little bit more distorted. Also I didn't add drums but they will be included, heavily reverbed.
I want to make something like Yume Bitsu, if you haven't heard them they're a post-rock band influenced by space rock, Scaruffi has actually reviewed their shit.

I really don't know what else to say, it's left me feeling a little dirty, kinda like listening to Peaches and your parents know it.

Fast Forward has a neat gentle synth melody that reminds me of some of Aphex's more laid back work. The vocal sample is a nice touch too. Chill.
>>75136407
I think I noticed your music in a previous thread. The sound reminds me of that murky witchhouse aesthetic everyone was crazy for five years ago. For my video I wanted something erratic and fast paced so some repetitive cuts felt appropriate at the time (I'm happy to hear you think it's weird in the good sense, anon).
I thought the genre was industrial hip-hop but a few people have said to me that the material on my new album isn't quite like what I was doing before so I suppose I'm not entirely sure what to class it as.
Your Cancion 2 track sounds gorgeous, anon. Nice atmosphere, pretty and gentle melody. The image you've used on your Soundcloud fits really well - dry desert night do come to mind. Really enjoy it, man.

Thank you, anon. I wanted to make another music video to put out when I released the album but it's really just finding the time to do that (I'm more often writing than I am producing music now and the music I'm producing at the moment is more to do with music I would listen to while reading and writing). I did have an idea for a music video done all in one take but the amount of planning needed for it to be interesting would probably be a bit too much for me at the moment. Thanks again for listening, anon!

Took a listen through a few of the tracks on your album, at first I was confused by your production, very brittle and tinny, but it's actually a unique sound. The songs themselves are very well done - the parts work into each other and the compositions are surprising. Never really heard anything like it

Took a listen to your latest tracks, Opening Day and Opening Day Redux. I like the tune, the keyboard melody but I feel like the beats might be incorporated better into the song with some tweaking. They kind of feel "separated" right now

>>75143072 Really really dope! These samples fit seamlessly together. I am getting some J Dilla Donuts vibes! You should invest in getting a higher quality sampler to make your beats a bit more clean. I also think you should focus on your mixes, this would sound a heck of a lot better if it had a better mix, especially the drums being mixed brighter and higher up in the mix.
>>75143137 Beautiful! Very well done sir! The mix on this is also A+ (In regards to my beat, the synth was intentially supposed to seem very poppy sounding. Which u may categorize as kind of a cheap sounding because it is super bright with no texture)

>>75143198 Already Reviewed
>>75143200 Very unique and interesting! This is almost more like a poem than it is a beat :)
>>75143465 Experimental mos def, but I would have liked to have heard more instrumentation. For my taste these simple drum and bass tracks with odd rhythm tend to get boring.
>>75143612 Already Reviewed
>>75143706 Very cool marimba work here (or whatever instrument that is). That synth is also pretty neat, only I would have like a better mix on that synth :)
>>75144082 Already Reviewed
>>75144280 The mix on this needs some major work. The synthesizer is just a little too in my face. I also probably wouldn't categorize this as house. I would say it is more of a drum and bass track. Also that synth that comes in a little later is pretty cool.

The best way for me to describe what you'll hear when you listen to my music is by telling you what I listen to and who inspires me.
I listen to jazz music. Stuff like John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Chick Corea. I listen to metal bands, Animals as Leaders, BTBAM, Buckethead. Classical music, Liszt, Chopin, Paganini, Vivaldi. I like some soul music, Robert Glasper, Chris Dave, Herbie Hancock. I like listening to "world" music.
I like a lot of stuff and that's what's it's all about. Sharing the love.

>>75145447 Solid! Both of you had good flows and bars :)
>>75147494 Very interesting song right here. I have no idea what genre to put this into. All I can say is, you should defintley work on your mixing. Even though you are probably purposefully trying to have the vocals sound distorted. There are ways to make the vocals still sound nice to the ears, even if they are distorted. These vocals are hurting my ears at the moment
>>75148116 Dope song! Solid flow and delivery! I really would have liked to hear your vocals higher in the mix though. Also the intros and outros were a nice touch :)

You're voice is a bit weak, you should be projecting it more. It's going to make it very difficult to record and mix your voice if you're going to be singing like that. Likewise, during live gigs your voice will be practically inaudible to the audience. Another point is your range. You seem to be singing relatively low in pitch, which will present another problem with regards to what kind of music will fit in the background. If you have any sort of mid-range instruments (like guitars played on the lower strings, bass played with pick, piano, other keyboards, etc) your voice will blend in with them, making your words and overall performance indistinct. If you're going to sing that low, you should use music with more top end; folky-sounding stuff is good for this (bright acoustic/electric guitar, harpsichord, violin, flute, etc). Also your intonation (how in-tune you are) wavers a bit, you should work on singing in-tune better. With regards to writing and making music, the best thing to do is to just start doing it. Find some cheap recording software, a good microphone, stuff like that, listen to other people's music and look at what they do with regards to the songwriting; the chords, melodies, lyrics, structure, etc.

This is the soundrtack for a low-tier game named RESIN, 1000-1500 copies sold overall, which isn't, ermm, bad for me and my friend. Some retrowave shit. Sounds good? There was a pretty popular reaction from users about it. IDK, but In our case, OST is quite an important thing and i just don't get it why there's only 10-15 copies are sold. But people were asking to release it, that's the gimmick!
I don't want to be mean or something, I just wanna understand how solid my soundtracks work could be, or all of this just a flop.
And does it make sense actually to sell a fucking OST of a game? I appreciate some legendary soundtracks like Hotline Miami, Udertale, whatever but for a normal, usual game could it be better to just let the people download that shit for free? But many people were asking to buy it, on the other hand...
Idk, fuck this OST scene.
