i only know one other why? fan that loves this album

everyone just bitches about the lack of rapping / lack of immediate hooks and writes it off as boring, shitty indie but man, there's a lot to like about this album if you give yourself to it

There's a pretty sizable portion of the music community that praises that album as one of their bests though. Same with Paralytic Stalks and Gay Parade. *No one* thinks Lousy is one of the best albums in the band's discography, which is why I think it's more underrated

In fairness you can call anything other than Hissing Fauna (and maybe Sunlandic Twins) underrated. Each project is so varied and relatively well executed that it's hard to do them all justice. In any event, I respect your opinion.

I know almost every line from Alopecia from heart and I can't even listen to Mumps, Etc. all the way through in one sitting, I need a break from that shit.

Although Illinois is a better album as a whole. On and a song by song basis this has some of his best work easily. It's a legitimate album, and sort of feels like if he approached making Illinois in the same way he made Michigan if that makes any sense. People ignore it thinking its just b-sides.

Genuinely his magnum opus, even if you don't like Car Seat Headrest. It's baffling that he evolved to this, then somehow went so far backwards once he got signed to a record label.
