Question reguarding Tom Petty song

With the album Southern Accents (1985), Petty wrote a ton of songs relating to the South for the album that were not put on the album and later released (Apartment Song, Trailer, etc.).
There are also songs he has not released (Sheets - supposedly a song about kkk)
I was wanting to know if anyone here knew if Down South (from Highway Companion) was originally written for Southern Accents? It is clearly about the south and he does not write songs about it very often, which makes me wonder if this is the case.
