Is ICP even remotely talented? I've heard talk that they are simply comprised of fleasing idiot juggalos of their money.
I used to live two floors up from a kid who was a big dark carinval believer and had been to several gatherings.

They were the response to overly commercial music
That being said, the commercial music wasn't great and neither were they, it was mostly an image

They make pretty shitty music, but as a kid i did like a few songs. Theyre pretty dumb themselves so i dont think they mastermind a plot to trick idiot fans out of their money. they happen to have gotten themselves a cult following that eat their shit up.
their fan base is poor white people, ie every a typical music critic despises
ergo /mu/ hates them

Yes they are unironically comedic geniuses.

I mean, I guess it depends on who you ask, but I love Bennink, Breuker, Mingelberg and co. Sometimes some solo outings from guys like Ab Baars or Tristan Honsinger don't resonate with me as much as I'd like, but whenever they're in the orchestra they're great.
Listening to Restless in Pieces right now and, even though Mengelberg is no longer with them, it's still really neat. Whoop whoop.

I really enjoy how freaked out and upset ICP makes a lot of music listeners and journalists.
People will harp on about how edgy and against the grain The Velvet Underground, Bjork or The Clash are. How they challenge the status quo and shook things up yet all of those artists are critical darlings.
When something comes out which really is ugly, nasty, working class and confrontational people lose their shit. Stick to London Calling desu senpai

Gotta include Swans in that list, even Death Grips. Often the most 'confrontational' and 'edgy' bands are completely critically lauded.
down with captialism
