I used Win7 and I tried Win10 and it's even faster. But you need to have the system patrition (C:) on a SSD to benefit from this speed.

Better don't upgrade. Backup your data from C:, format the C: partition and do a clean install. After that, reisntall all your programs and move back your data. Thank me later.
Protip: better keep your data in a separate partition (not C:). Whatever you will do with your C: it will not affect your data, except your programs and their settings.
