I am sick to death of all my friendos jerking themselves to death over porcupine tree and steven wilson. They listen to porcupine tree and his solo stuff almost exclusively (along with some pink floyd, the beatles and some devin townsend).
It's really weird to me that my taste (which I admit grew from /mu/core stuff) is so radically different than theirs. I like a few albums by porcupine tree and maybe a few tracks by him but I don't think there's anything genius or revolutionary or massively enjoyable about his music. Yet the people I know irl who claim to be audiophiles don't talk about any albums from /mu/core. Almost ALL of them talk about steven wilson and porcupine tree as the champions of progressive rock which they place above all other music.
Now I want to know what /mu/ thinks about steven wilson and PT? Are the normies right? Have we been listening to trash all this while steven wilson churns out music in the great evolved progressive form? Are we the cavemen? Is progressive rock as steven wilson churns it out the next step in rock history? A stepping stone which we haven't acknowledged yet?
He has made some great music that's for sure. Funny thing is he's quite humble about it while his fans jerk off like it's the second coming of Christ.

So it's not just me who's experienced this.
