Those guys remind me of Krallice.

Krallice apparently plays black metal, which surprises me since I know I was listening to post rock. It's obvious they draw influences from one of the worst acts to plague the USBM scene: Weakling. It'd be great to hear some black metal riffs, but we have tremolo picked post rock. Layered structures, everything builds and moves, rises and climaxes, all whilst being incredibly melodic. Disingenuous and antithetical to black metal. The guitars lack the requisite ferocity and hatred, as well as proper tone and distortion. The solos make you want to get some aromatherapy candles, have a bath, and listen to this album. NOT BLACK METAL! May I remind you that Mick Barr is in this band? His solos are AWFUL but what would you expect from Orthrelm's fuckwit? Ten minutes really isn't much in black metal circles, but Krallice seems dedicated to wearing out their welcome. These tracks go nowhere. And then, there's the vocals. They're simply some strained hardcore vocals which fit the music perfectly because it's gimpy shit.

The lyrics are a goddamn joke. They aren't the curious passages of S. Holliman from I Shalt Become nor the philosophical words of Akhenaten. They are the things that newbies to black metal find to be cool because they read the title of a Nietzsche book and crossbred that with some ironic, artsy, and wacky ideas that some friend mentioned to them when they were smoking pot. Here are ALL of the lyrics for the "Time Husk"

As much as I like Behold...the Arctopus and Byla, Krallice fails to be both black metal and, more importantly, good. All you have is half-baked post rock that has all the enlightened, friendly, "LETS HOLD EACH OTHER'S COCKS WHILE WE PISS".

I saw L "Y" J at Squidco yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, and asked him to redbull me on himself, but I didn’t want to be an embryo and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

The guy at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he pretended not to hear, but eventually brought the cds to the counter.
When he took one of the cds and started scanning it multiple times, which was pointless since Erstwhile releases don't have barcodes, he stopped him and told him to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and told me "bitches on my dick cause I'm L "Y" J, bitches not on yours cause you aren't L "Y" J". I don’t even think that’s a word. After he scanned each disc and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting him by saying "Where's Your Asian Girlfriend" really loudly over and over again.
