clapping at a show
why doe some people act like clapping on 1 and 3 is bad? according to basic theory accent ARE most commonly on 1 and 3. why do they always want people to clap on 2 and 4? they act like it messes them up and stuff

did you just make up a problem? who in the audience does this? who has ever complained about this being a problem?

ive seen videos of musicians stopping mid song just to "correct" the audience before. i constantly see it happen. and my music professor brought it up the other day as well which reminder me of it.

hmm. i didn't know this was an issue, but after watching some videos, i think it's because clapping approximates a snare drum, which in modern music usually goes on the offbeat not the accent.
A "backbeat" is literally defined as having its accents on 2 and 4.
If the music has a backbeat, then it's silly to clap on 1 and 3.

snare almost always goes on 3 if you're playing in 4/4 which most modern music is
