Ethereal Shroud - They Became the Falling Ash
Gallowbraid - Ashen Eidolon
Branikald - Rdjandalir

you and every other internet person. MF were constantly referenced in zines and interviews because first-wave went beyond the genre's sonic tropes that weren't even made concrete until 2nd wave. >m-muh false dichotomy
Nah, see I used to be like you guys, too. But I got sick and tired of listening to the same exact older styles worshipped to death. There's too much other music out there (metal and non-metal) to listen to instead of listening to an inferior version of say...Blasphemy or Darkthrone.

>so don't mind me I'll just CONTINUE with this false dichotomy
you're operating under the false assumption that:
A) all the black metal I listen to is copies of blasphemy or darkthrone (it isn't)
B) I don't listen to things other than black metal

the thing, my taste is a lot more eclectic, both in metal and in general
and the other thing is, the point I was trying to make is that people push this garbage as an alternative to "the same old thing" when in reality it's just BAD and for INDIE KIDS to listen to it, there are lots of TRUE bands that experiment and make amazing black metal that doesn't sound anything like blasphemy or darkthrone without being pitchfork-tier garbage

and besides, if there ever was a genre where there is value in listening to the classics or (GOOD) rehashes of the classics, that is black metal
if a band is like a third grade darkthrone clone I won't listen to them, but if their riffs are just as good and they have their own cool atmosphere and sound why should I pass it up just because someone else did it before? it's completely nonsensical
but what can I expect from an idiot like you

Found the person who just decided to delve deeper into the genre and thinks he's some cool elitist for it. I guess I was that way, too back then.
>>75086184
But it's not a false dichotomy. For fuck's sake you talk like you're some expert on the genre, so you should know that Antichrist's Sacrament Of Blood is a second rate Blasphemy ripoff but is not as raw nor has as many riffs with a far more simplistic structure as well. Don't give me this bullshit argument you pulled out of your ass because you wanted to appear holier than thou. Also since when the fuck is a band like Murmuure hipster bait? They have riffs, and unlike the atmostuff they get compared to, don't waste a lot of time on a track by track basis. But oh no! They use a variety of weird sounds rather than muh cold sounding keys which is a genre staple now so they must suck! How fucking disingenuous is that?

>and besides, if there ever was a genre where there is value in listening to the classics or (GOOD) rehashes of the classics, that is black metal
No, this is especially not true for black metal, a genre who's more bestial stuff can be done mostly on the first four frets of a guitar and whose second wave stuff can be mostly done on the seventh to tenth frets plus the open string on a guitar. The genre has gotten very repetitive in its rehash culture.

Fuck dude, your autism makes it sound like I was praising Deafheaven or Liturgy.
>>
>>75086772
what the fuck are you talking about, I only reacted to this stupid notion that anyone who bashes tourist "metal" does so because he is a purist who only wants to listen to rehashes
and my point was that there are a lot of TRUE bands that make forward-thinking or simply extremely unique music, I thought I made that clear
and I have nothing against murmuure, I just said it doesn't belong in a black metal thread, it's a masterpiece but not a black metal masterpiece
>>
>>75086956
>what the fuck are you talking about, I only reacted to this stupid notion that anyone who bashes tourist "metal" does so because he is a purist who only wants to listen to rehashes
What the fuck? Did you completely remove the context of my first post in this topic to claim I was just going for a false dichotomy? How retarded are you?

>and I have nothing against murmuure, I just said it doesn't belong in a black metal thread, it's a masterpiece but not a black metal masterpiece
They have riffs. Raw, fuzzy riffs. With blast beats and fry screams. Most of the tracks have a riff based progression except that seven minute one which is more minimalistic, but Burzum also did this particularly on Filosofem where Jesu Tod is minimalist. Murmuure uses unconventional sounds as its secondary, but just because it's not the typical clean guitar bit or cold ambient synth keys doesn't make it not black metal ultimately.

if i love Drudkh - Blood in our wells, what else should i try out?
i bet you guys get so tired of these types of posts...
>>
>>75087135
yes, especially because they are so predictable and always involve the same 5-10 albums, half of which are bad/not bm

yours is not that bad but I can't rec you anything because drudkh is the only band I like in that style, you'll probably enjoy the garbage people will bring up like winterfylleth, gallowbraid, fen and I don't know what else like these bands
oh and wodensthrone, my god that's a shit band

I am honestly surprised S.V.E.S.T. hasn't gotten more love. It's got the more avant garde trappings for the more technical guys and the raw kvlt sound for the more traditional guys at the same time. Probably because they haven't released a damn new thing in about a decade or so.
>>75087133
That still doesn't make the claim I made universal. Just towards that particular anon in that particular context.

That's where my misunderstanding lies

it's funny you post this because if I was gonna namedrop to back up my statement that original AND true bm exists, S.V.E.S.T. would be leading that list

not him and i don't care about what mental gymnastics you're doing but Sacrament of Blood was recorded contemporaneously with Blasphemy. They're about as big a "ripoff" as Hellhammer was to Bathory was to Venom, or Vulcano was to Holocausto was to Sepultura. As in they're less a "ripoff", more a contemporary of the same style, unless you want to try hard to undermine them being similar as ripping off to get your point across.
>>
>>75087196
>they haven't released a damn new thing
this is why. to generalize, the people that dig know them or will eventually find them easily but they won't have larger visibility for the layperson until a new release

It was recorded in 1994. Fallen Angel Of Doom came out in 1990. Gods Of War in 1993. Nowhere near as contemporaneous as you claim. I already explained why I don't like the record anymore, which goes beyond them being one a ripoff.

Axis Of Advance is pretty good for a war metal style band, and one I know that even haters of the war metal style enjoy to some extent. Maybe start off with these guys if you don't like that style as well?
