Where did vaporwave go wrong?
From the start
>>75056263
With the adding of shitty midi beats and not the screwing of plunderphonics being the main focus. 2048 and Blank Banshee can both suck my dick
>>75056276
>>75056289
>>75056302
why do they hate things that are cool?
>>75056263

>>75056263
i dunno man i like it
>>75056263
The 2nd half of this album is some of the shittest most mediocre trash. The A Side is very very good though. Vektroid can suck my dick
>>75056263
plagiarism isnt a genre its a meme
>>75056354
It has nothing to do with whether or not you still enjoying the music; it's about the fact that it betrayed its roots by unironically idolizing consumer culture. I guess we have Macross and Saint Pepsi to thank for that though.
>>75056325
It's a YouTube meme videos core genre.
Macross and Saint Pepsi can both suck my dick
>>75056432
Hey guys. What do you think of Nightcore. I mean at least it was innovating.
>>75056263
In thinking a vague notion of (false) nostalgia is the only thing necessary to facilitate creating a genre, rather than any interesting musical idea.
When it went right for the first tim
>>75056468
Nah. Sometimes actual talent is needed to create a genre. Just not in this case.
>>75056471
This album fucking sucks. You are just an idiot.
>>75056485
Non sequitur
>>75056400
fair enough, still I am a music whore so meanings and stuff dont matter much to me.
>>75056458
>innovating
Wasn't it just electronic music?
>>75056263
the start
When Daniel Lopatin aka OPN aka Chuck Person invented new genre called Vaporwave it was very cool and innovative but when meinstream accepted it tumblr monsters ruined all and it went wrong like everything what meinstream takes as cool
all these years of memes and finally something beautiful comes out of it
>>75056432
>REEEEEEE
when every kid who is even kind of interested in drugs and makes music in their room thought they'd try.
>>75056567
He didn't invent it. He just modernised it.
>>75056554
How so?
>>75056592
Nightcore would come under the term Experimental Plunderphonics. How would it even be considered Electronic?
>>75056612
How was the music made?
>>75056667
Through careful selection of what song would be improved by fastening it up.
>>75056696
>by fastening it up.
See: electronic music
>>75056766
See: Digital Music
It went wrong in that it was awfullly chopped and screwed 80s tunes slowed down, it is very samey.
Vaporwave like 2814 is what keeps it alive.
>>75056815
Chopped and screwed 80's music was the only thing good about it.
Vaporwave started to suck when the producers started to take themselves too serious.
It became a meme
>>75056441
Future Funk not vaporwave
>>75056458
>A nightcore edit is a remix track that speeds up its source material, increasing its pitch.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r_Ip_jElS0
Yeah, nothing but innovation here.
>>75056844
It can be done well, most of the time it is just hard to tell two typical vaporwave songs apart.
I will also add that the slowed down vocal thing gets really grateing after a while
>>75056908
Selecting an appropriate source material is the innovating dumb ass
A genre that intertwines itself this closely with meme culture will never have any staying power. It was always either going to be obscure forever, or be destroyed upon reaching the mainstream.
>>75056783
Which is >>75056766
>>75058477
Painfully incorrect.
>>75056458
hey mom look I put the video speed to 2x hehe xd
>>75056263
It didn't.
I'm happy Vaporwave seems to be coming out of the internet-meme era and can just be continued by fans and artists like any other music genre.
Hopefully people will move onto low-fi hip hop or something and over-expose that instead.
You know how white nerds hear rap and go "hurr its just talking over a beat its easy anyone could do it" and then they try and its always horrendous and cringeworthy.
Vaporwave is that but with sampling.
>>75058925
Except neither of those genres are difficult to make. Both are only a matter of finesse.
>>75056962
djs play techno records at 45rpm instead of 33 since like 30 years ago though. Even before that some disco djs were already doing it
S U N D A Y S C H O O L
>>75056530
i literally see nothing wrong with this
It kept going
>>75056263
Probably the fact that the producers were so embroidered into capitalist realism to not understand that what they were doing was actually parodying and critiquing neoliberal consumerist reproduction.
>>75056895
future funk was vaporwave til we started making spinoff genre names. those guys started the insane self promotion framed as honest interest which killed the music tho
