After this, they get a little too "Jammy" for my taste. This was still when they were a psychedelic garage/punk band. (This and The Warlocks' demo are their best works in my opinion)

In England, I think this was released under the title Please Please Me.

Another solid debut would be The Who's My Generation L.P. (The U.S and British versions are slightly different. Track listings are different on side two of both albums. U.S. version doesn't include I'm a Man, and the U.S. version is entitled The Who Sing My Generation)

what I'd say is that you can't really claim that I is better than II, IV is different enough that maybe someone likes the first one better, but II just feels like a straight-up upgrade to me

I hate to sound contrarian but IV is insanely overrated. I don't think most people here will disagree with that, but I also think it's only their third best after Physical Graffiti and III (Since I've Been Loving You instantly makes it a minimum of an 8/10 without even taking the other tracks into account).
