My first exposure to the band was a review on sputnikmusic of Exmilitary, giving it like a 1.0/5. The reviewing saying the band was meme fad and that the music is actually really bad. After seeing the cover to the mixtape repeatedly on /mu/, I checked it out. The first track was pretty solid- but nothing that special on first listen. The rest of the tracks gave me the idea that the band was indeed very bad. But then the first track really grew on me, then the rest of the album. So I am wondering if the music really was shit, but by giving it more interest and attention it eventually led to my expectations on music to lower for it and for any album I listen to in the future, or if the music really was good- a diamond in the rough.
