Well, I saw them right around when Matt had joined as a live drummer (before they took him in fulltime) and Franklin played an acoustic proto version of Spiral as the encore. I think a bulk of Underside had already been written by the time Matt became a full member. But yeahhhh, they definitely need to put him to good use on the next one.

I read a bunch of their interviews during this promo cycle and you're totally right. They did say that they'll collaborate much more on the next album so I have high hopes for that one.
Until then I plan on seeing them live as many times as I can b/c they're easily one of the best new bands around live
