Seldom has a group's "we're cutting edge and you're not" arrogance been so groundless and unwarranted. Typical middlebrow pseudo-progressives, they have merely transferred the prog-rock notion of ostentatious virtuosity to sample-based music; their great bugbear is "obviousness" in sampling. And so every last drop of "vibe" and "aura" is addled out of their sources by their onanistic knob-twiddling; their music sounds as disgustingly denatured and plasma-morphic as those godawful videos and Buggy G. Riphead cover images. As sampladelic auteurs, 4 Hero (whose studio, funnily enough, is next door to FSOL's in Dollis Hill) piss on Cobain & Dougans from extreme height. It blows my mind that back in '93, darkcore EP's like "Journey From the Light" and "Golden Age"/"Golden Age Remixes" were universally ignored, while dreck like "Lifeforms" was hailed to the heavens. Amazinglyly, FSOL are still getting rave reviews.

Oh fuck, this is one of my favorite albums.

Obviously, you want anything else from FSOL, especially the Environments series and From The Archives

Otherwise, Global Communication's 76:14 is going to be up your alley:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7-PD2oBvyY

Also, there was a very short-lived project called Jacob's Optical Stairway that you might enjoy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoZR8UXSRDA

If you like darker stuff, Download will be great for you. This was the first EP of theirs that I got, and it's great. Some vocals, mostly from Genesis P Orridge on this one, but there are some really great tracks on here if you don't care for those (like Biosphere's remix of Attalal):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVQX6IY0byQ

The Orb has some cool stuff. UFOrb and Orbus Terrarum are my favorites, and are probably the most similar to FSOL's Lifeforms:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-iGoOm2gmg

If you're okay with older synth music, you might enjoy Tangerine Dream (they had a string of like 6 solid albums and then drifted away from that for the rest of their career):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmpxXq3Gx9w

You might like Oneohtrix Point Never's album R Plus Seven. It's a little more abstract and not as beat-driven as FSOL at all, but is plenty atmospheric. Looks like the labels took down all of the YouTube links for it, but here's a small taste:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9Au2Z-XNJ4

Other bands that are often compared to FSOL include Biosphere and Monolake. There's one other whose name is two or three words, but it's slipping. I'm going to try to think of it. I'll come back with more rec's if I think of them because I know there are some other good ones

Oh yeah. Carbon Based Lifeforms. Most of their discography is pretty consistently lush. I think you'll enjoy this:

nice, I'm gonna check out everything slowly over time, thanks

Data Rebel is pretty good, particularly the release Illusions of Reality
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6npo4N0zQmM

Deepchord makes ambient dub, which is really nice. I'd check out his album Sommer if you're curious:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUFZCv7yXxE
(And if you're really interested in ambient dub, there's a label called Energostatic Records putting out some pretty high-quality stuff lately, esp. artists like Dt-90, Le Code, and Jaymuhsin: energostatic.bandcamp.com)

Richard H. Kirk (aka The Electronic Eye) does some work that leans just a little more toward electronic dance at times. It's more loop-based, but I'd check out his work, especially the double album he did as Cabaret Voltaire called The Conversation. It progresses really nicely, and the second half (Project80 and Exterminating Angel) is a real trip. Here's a track from the first half:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSwqkiT-aoA

There was an Australian producer called Mystic Force who made some old-school trance which was really nice. I'd get a copy of Mystic Force vs. Effective Force - Everglade if you're curious:
