What does /mu/ think of New Order?

They're mostly complete shit to be honest. Saying New Order was better than Joy Division is one of those opinions that is so utterly retarded that I can only hope people are trolling when they say it.

They are excellent musicians, but their lyrics are often trite and meaningless.

Here's my hot take:

They say Joy Division has the better albums and New Order has the better singles, but in reality it's vice versa.

I like new order more than joy divsion. Hipster like joy division more. I think new order are too poppy and simple for hipsters. I think its amazing how they bounced back after ian died. And i think all their first 5 albums are classics and it was a good streak, after that they fell off.

I just think all of their albums have weak tracks and don't flow particularly well.

I appreciate both joy division and new order, albeit in different ways.
Joy division is more entertaining to me when I'm in an introspective mood, whereas new order is great music to have in the background when I'm drinking with the lads or I'm exhausted after work and want something that's a little less involved.
I also feel that there's more variety in sound with new order, whereas joy division has one particular sound that they do very well.

New Order is numale repellant

New Order is great, but it pains me to think how much greater they could have been if Ian had been their singer and lyricist
