Does anyone know the choir term for a piece that has a bunch of different pitches singing seemingly out of synch at the same time?
I'm trying to find a youtube video I listened to a long time ago, and I remember there was a word for it.

No that isn't it. I don't think I can explain it properly. I made a mockup of what I remember the video LOOKED like. I remember it started with RAAAYYYYY. They were singing in latin. It was like an acapella.
polyphony?

You might be trying to describe dissonance, it could be one of 1000s contemporary pieces.
Maybe a Penderecki piece or Stimmung by Stockhausen...
hocquet/hocket?

the one i remember listening to was a different choir and had a really strong start instead of a slow build up and it had more distinct vocals instead of the sound kind of merging together, but this has to be the piece.

Imitative counterpoint. In the case of that particular song it's between 5 identical choirs.

A cappella?
