Has an album ever brought you to tears? No judgement here anon
I cried when I saw the strokes. Twice, actually
When they played Hard to Explain and when they played Someday
sniff sniff
No judgement?
Ok, then, don't laugh at the terrible album art, but there's a song on here called Momma Sed. It impacted me in that Bob Dylan way and made me burst into tears.

Yes but I'm not going to post it because everything I feel a connection with gets memed.
>>74973221

>>74973241
yeah I was with a friend, she cried during Under Control
Happy tears, sad tears, bittersweet tears.

Also this and ITAOTS both managed to get me while I was feeling REALLY shitty.

>That's right, Caroline. It also means life's not all about being down and out
>>74973139
It has made me cry many times sober as well, but the first time I listened to this on shrooms the entire time I was laughing and crying pure tears of joy.

>tfw the last song you listened to together was The Summer Ends, laying in her bed
>she holds you tight for the last time
even the album art makes me sad
Yeah, like 50. Almost every time it was out of excitement though, maybe once or twice out of sadness.
My most controversial choices for this are
Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica (Dachau Blues)
Ryoji Ikeda - Dataplex (data.matrix)
Venetian Snares - Songs About My Cats (For Bertha Rand, I think)
Zs - New Slaves (Acres of Skin)
And some more understandable choices
Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians (IIIA and IVA, IIRC)
Sufjan Stevens - The Tallest Man
The Books - The Lemon of Pink (like 80% of the songs on there, sometimes more than once per song)

I wish I could get drugs, I smoked weed once and I've needed it ever since, but I'd love to go all the way to DMT.

Spiritualzed's Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space.
That album is all-enveloping onslaught of heartbreak and existential dread. It's ethereal and isolating but also intimate and immediate.
I Think I'm in Love, Broken Heart,, and No God Only Religion pry you open and shake you up, taking you to a dark place, but the epic closer, Cop Shoot Cop tears out the ground from underneath you, shattering what will you have left, replacing loneliness with desperate existential dread and isolation on a universal scale. It made me quake, and shook me to my core - and I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to admit that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6-QvBz9_lY
This has always been a sad song, but it didn't really get me until this summer. I met a girl in April and we hit it off really well. One night we were sharing sad songs and I shared this, and I think it made her think of her ex that broke up with her just a couple of months before we met, because she cried and told me what a sad song it was.
Then in July she told me she didn't feel a romantic connection to me even though the connection i felt with her was and still is stronger than anything else I've ever felt.
Now it just reminds me of her, both thematically and personally. I'm still not doing very well and feel pathetic that I feel this way about her.
>>74973313
>she holds you tight for the last time
oh man, that almost made me choke up, I could just picture that. I'm in a weird place in a relationship with this girl right now but I love her so much it hurts. That's a beautiful song too

Pale Blue Eyes always made me get close to crying but I never knew why. I ended up listening to the album during a sad event and associated the two together. Now I have a really hard time listening to it.
>>74982136
The first time I heard the first track I was in this slightly old RV that was my friend's dads and we were all going to Atlanta and I put that album on right when we hit the road. Took me really off guard at first, having not heard a sample of it before hand, but I still found it very hypnotic and intriguing. Still one of my favorites from the album.
>>74973297
I once cried to Siegfried on a plane. At the Elliot Smith line
>>74982240
I used to be in a situation exactly like Pale Blue Eyes, and the song made me feel. Turned out it was retarded and degenerate of me, and the guy was as unreliable and cruel as you'd expect given the situation. I don't even care to listen to the song anymore, and it's far from relatable. Funny how things can quickly change.
>>74982280
I haven't even really listened to the lyrics. I don't usually pay attention to them. It was just the song itself that made me sad, that's why it was so weird.
>>74981242
That sucks man. If I've learned anything from the past year, it's that it does get better with time. Try to focus on taking care of yourself and not letting those memories drag you down when there are a lot of wonderful things to come, though I know it's easier said than done. Hang in there dude, I'll be praying for you.
>>74973514
Unnecessary? Don't think so lad if only you'd have picked an actually good song
I have various of them.
First is pic related, I was thinking of killing myself for a long time, I did my best to get help, yet I kept relapsing to my thoughts, there are several parts of the record that get to me still, I was also going through abusive relationship when I discovered this record and I was giving up on life and I just kinda wanted to die.
>Find My Way
"I never meant for this.."
>Everything
Just the general idea of it, feeling better only for it to fall apart
>Various Methods Of Escape
"I've gotta let go, I've gotta get straight, why you'd make it so hard? Let me get away"
>I Would For You
I was in a relationship when listening to this album one I was failing at miserably. I also despise who I am as a person and I'd give anything to be anything else, so the lyric
"If I could be somebody else, well, I think I would for you"
is really hard to take in for me. As the lyric implies that the change itself is impossible but he wishes for it.
>While I'm Still Here
I won't lie, this made me sob into a ball and I cannot even comprehend why, it feels very open, I feel like I am going to die one day by my own hand, one day I'll just lose it.
The entire song's lyrics just feel very sad, lyrics like;
>"Only thing I've everdone"
>"Oh, so tired on my own"
>"A little more, every day, falls apart and slips away"
>"Wish it didn't have to end this way"
>"Watching young lovers walking by, god, forgive me if I cry"
Also one sound in this song sounds like a literal clock, ticking away the time. It's just such a heart-breaking song to me.
So, that's my blog, I guess. I felt like I needed to explain myself, since Hesitation Marks isn't something people would regard to be very emotionally effective when compared to the rest of NIN discography.
>>74973589
Came here to post this, broke down at Impossible Soul during a hard time in my life
>>74982390
Also, the name of the album itself doesn't help.
It gives me the same feelings as The Fragile when it comes to its sound in a way, like something is wrong, Hesitation Marks sounds more stable I guess, but something feels intentionally off about it, broken underneath.

Hard to recommend something to get you to cry if I don't know you personally, but maybe try Logic Songs by Little Kid? It's one of the most emotionally charged albums I've ever heard even if you don't relate to it
Season of the Shark described depression way too well and it hit me hard.
A lot of music has made me tear up. It really just depends on the time, place, and what I was going through the first time I heard a particular piece. One of the earliest songs that fucked my shit up, was "If You Leave Me Now" by Chicago. I listened to it over and over like a little baby, over my first breakup.

Imagine Diabaté playing a nylon guitar, with a beautiful, almost devotional voice and some great laid-back percussion. Also, track name means The Pain & You

Motion Picture Soundtrack is one of those tracks that just gets me everytime too. I dont cry, but fuck do I feel it.
>Nutshell
Layne really did share all his pain

Can't believe no one posted Pet Sounds. I relate way too much to it, and I can't recount how many times i've sobbed to it
>>74996667
Pet Sounds is beautiful
every time

>Please listen to me
>Don't let go
>Don't let this desperate moonlight leave me your empty pillow
Almost cried just typing this
>>74996681
Yeah. I mean it sounds corny but I feel like this album is a part of who I am. I also relate a lot to Brian. I wish I could meet him
>>74996718
Oh and Spiderland too, obviously
>>74996845
>i'll make it up to you
>i swear, i'll make it up to you...
There's MPP too, simply because of In the Flowers.
>Now I'm gone, I left flowers for you there
Fuck it

>I MISS YOU
Legit the only musical moment that ever gave me chills and I get them every single time I listen to it
ive never cried to an album no matter how emotional it makes me, guess im not the crying type
>>74973627
>tfw my mom is one of the most important people in my life
>tfw I take her for granted too much
Call your mom anon. Have a little talk. Maybe even take her out for lunch
Dream Brother left me with tears.
Lilac Wine gave me a tear on the edge, it didn't fall yet.
Don't Talk (put your head on my shoulders) by Beach Boys comes to mind

Literally my favorite 2 albums of all time posted right next to each other.
Note: I think New Grass on the context of Laughing Stock is the most speechlessly beautiful achievement I've heard in modern music.
Also have had my most transcendental shroom trips to these albums in particular
>>74976852
I would say it's the grower of all growers.
The whole album to me represents a symbiotic ecosystem that really has no shape in particular but somehow encapsulates every emotion I've ever felt. They morph and turn into something new. No album has ever sounded anything like this before or since and it's impossible to put a genre tag on. And like the other guy said, it's easier if you listen to it as jazz
>>74978184
Literally the only piece of music that has made me cry
>>74995450
>men
fuck off back to tumblr
>>74995785
A crow looked at me
Homogenic brought me close to tears a few times when the song "All Neon Like" came on.
>>74995754
This album and Rollercoaster kills me every time I listen to them
>>74973139
Every damn time. Especially Let Down and No Surprises. And the b-sides. This album is amazing all around and it makes me feel nostalgic for something I didn't get to experience.
>>74975789
welp, time to listen to this on repeat for 2 days. again.

>am I worth it? Did I put enough work in?
Went through his albums sequentially over a few months getting really obsessed and King's Crossing fucked me right up when I got to it
>>74995271
Like Spinning Plates ;_;
Not an album but i'd be lying if i said this didn't make me totally sob like a messy bitch every time i've heard it, immensely powerful single.
it fucking sucks when you're use to love songs not making any sense and then when you empathize with them eventually later on all you can do is cry like a bitch.
i'm talking about love songs in general.

If you really wanna bawl like a bitch, watch his last concert before he died.

>No Surprises
I wanted to kill myself to that song.
so you wanna be a superhero gets me every time
whole album is just hopelessly depressing
