they're both great

...no. I like Bauhaus much more than Joy Division, but JD was pretty groundbreaking and influential with their sound. Their subject matter and lyrics were also a lot more ambitious than Bauhaus'. Bauhaus were more stylish and glam-influenced, which makes them more fun. But I wouldn't say they're better. I do see a legitimate argument that Gang of Four is better than JD, though.
