glorified hipster toy?
neat little workstation?
opinions, alternatives?
>>
Seems overpriced.
>>
>>74936809
this might be all there is to say about it
>>
>>74936801
it looks pleb that's for sure. getting a strong iMac vibe
>>
>>74936809
this guy gets it
>>
>>74936809
and your alternative(s) for a portable workstation at that price is?
>>
>>74936837
a laptop
>>
>>74936837
Midi controller with knobs, free vsts and reaper?
>>
>>74936855
damn just killin em cold blooded
>>
this thing is nothing but a fucking novelty, limited amount of synth patches, limited record functionality, just why.
>>
>>74936801
overpriced

you know it "fa.m" haha dab on it

but in all seriousness i wouldn't buy hardware that's that small and novelty oriented. Getting a synthesizer (whose sounds you couldnt emulate via software (which you can do 90% of the time, let's be real)) to plug into your large setup at home is one thing, this isn't that. It's not really worth getting IMO.
>>
digital synth enclosure for 900
fuck all that
>>
Red Means Recording does a good job. It is limited though, which he openly admits. It does seem nice that it's more of a physical workstation.
>>
>>74937109
so does Cuckoo
>>
>>74937109
I work all day on a computer, so a physical workstation seems like a nice change.
>>
So, can anyone talk from experience on this? Anyone who did more than just noodle on one in a music store?
>>
>>74937205
>too autistic to use serious tools
don't be that guy
>>
Doesn't look all too impressive imo. There are better things to spend 900 bucks on. Heck, might aswell get Serum / VPS Avenger / Massive or whatever plugin and a MIDI Controller and you're set.
>>
>>74937243
I guess, that's a no.
>>
It's the new urbanite yuppie fad.Look at how many of them are dumped on ebay/reverb.
>>
>>74936801
I'd like it a lot if it was half the price. But at $900, you could get a Korg Monologue and one of those Roland reproductions for much less.
>>
It's portable & inspirational, it has fun sequencers and boutique synths. All the haters complaining it's a toy are sad sacks who couldn't make 900$ off 1 song if their life depended on it. That said an iPad & a handful of apps might be cheaper and offer a more diverse range of sounds.
>>
>>74938964
Korg monologue + Roland boutique still doesn't come close to the possibilities OP1 offers.
>>
>>74936801
what are you trying to do here?
>>
>>74936837
save a little bit more and buy an octatrack

fpbp.
I'd love to have one but not fucking happening for that idiotic price.
>>
It's a lot like Beats by Dr. Dre; not irredeemably terrible, just insanely overpriced.
Actually, most of Teenage Engineering's products follow this rule.
>>
If you can find one for under $600, buy it. Otherwise, too much.
>>
>>74940152
but Beats ARE terrible
>>
>>74940175
Nah. They'd pretty reasonable if they only cost like $35. They're not dollar store terrible.
>>
>>74936855
fuck dude he had a family
>>
Once upon a time an artist I really admired used some cheap sampler to make awesome music and a couple years ago he switched to the OP-1 and now makes shit remixes. ;_;
>>
I used to own one, ended up selling it because I could get the same results with Ableton and a a few cheap pieces of hardware. It's intuitive as hell but becomes a bit finicky when you want to branch out.

But yeah, it's way too expensive. I would price this thing at a solid $400.
>>
>>74939113
100% OP1's design schema is also why the price is so high. Pumping in a firmware that robust on that little of device that isn't a phone is quite extraordinary. However they do sound a bit manky live, but again if u know what you are doing in the right context it can equal an MPC on steroids if u have more than one and the knowledge.
