Is this worth a listen?

no, smashing pumpkins are a shit band that never released anything worthwhile and Corgan is the biggest hack in the music industry.

Yes. One of the best albums of the 90s, and in the genre overall.

best first listen is when you're an angsty teen but I've been enjoying it 20+ years later, recently.

Just listen to it. Worst case, you waste like 2 hours of your day and end up with an informed and qualified opinion about it.
My favourite record of all time.
As >>74933453 said, it is for teenagers, that's the whole point. Corgan has openly admitted the record is for 14-24 year olds. However, that gives you two levels of appreciation:
1. If you are of that age, you can immediately relate to it
2. If that point in your life has passed, this record brings you the most beautiful, stinging, haunting nostalgia you can imagine when you play it back
I could talk about it for hours. It's a beautiful album, the contrast of the rich layered guitar tones, the strings, Corgan's harsh whine...it's incredible. The last truly great American rock album.

I agree 100%

I was 16 when it came out. Played the hell out of it that summer (southern hemisphere). Bullet With Butterfly Wings was the song that hooked me initially.
The album kinda has the seeds for a lot of genres I would be attracted to later also.

He sucks and you are a faggot
>>74932663
Undoubtedly. An album with growing power-- def one to hear over and over again.

1st side of the album is masterpiece level.
2nd side not so much but still has some great standout tracks.
Pretty awesome album overall.
