Fuck no, Vaporwave will forever live on in my heart, it's the last reminder of a beautiful timeline when everything had a beautiful and elegant utopian design. Now everything's stark, clinical, overly wooden, bright and utilitarian - back then, things had a softer, more comforting design.

I still enjoy it quite a bit, the nostalgic feeling that a lot of it has makes it difficult to let go of as a genre. Even if it's produced a lot of shit, I can still go back and enjoy the good stuff just as well as when I first heard them.
Been listening to pic related a lot lately, it's a new personal favorite of mine and was a nice find among all the garbage flooding the genre.

Things today are too sharp, too focused on stark hyperrealism. Back then, things had a dreamy feel to them. That's gone now, and the only fandom that gives a damn about how life was back then are the vaporwave community.

people setting out to create a 'vaporwave' album in 2017 are generally too hung up on genre conventions and overarching ideas to create anything too interesting
however, i think the vaporwave sound has influenced other genres and artists in a way that we are yet to fully realise - rap; artists like mac demarco and homeshake; ambient

I just wish it was 1994 again.
