Listened to it today. Seems pretty good. Definitely one of their better albums in recent years, but still not up to snuff compared to their older stuff.

A few decent songs here and there, but mostly unmelodic/lackluster filler.

Strange how bands can make 9/10 albums a couple times then fail so badly.

Come On Die Young and Happy Songs For Happy People are incredible albums, I don't agree with you at all. Both are definitely better than Hawk in my opinion.

In my opinion the only really questionable track on Happy Songs is Boring Machines, but every other track is strong and Hunted By A Freak, Kids Will Be Skeletons, Ratts of the Capitol are some of their best.

Come On Dude Y? Especially in the second half, CODY really shines.
Mogwai is one of my favorite bands though so I'm predisposed to gush about them.

I always feel that people who say this never bothered checking the rest of their discography. I'm not trying to be contrarian here, but Young Team is my least favourite album of thiers (not saying it's bad at all, I just love the rest) although Tracy is 10/10

MYT is literally their best album and most influential. Honestly, aside from YT and CODY, most of Mogwai's albums never really shined as albums, only singular songs were even good.
