Really surprised with this. Totally loving it. In my top five as of today.

1. Common as Light
2. Crack-Up
3. American Dream
4. FORGET
5. Peasant

how do you sleep is one of their best tracks, great album

t. fuckin retard
>>
Anyone else think the title track is way better now that its in the context of the album?

I know sometimes that's just a cliche people say about certain singles but for some reason its hitting me way harder than it did when it originally released.
>>
so happy they didn't arcade fire themselves
>>
>>74894908
totally agree
>>
>>74894908
definitely with you. as a single you could tell it was supposed to have a lot of emotional, dramatic heft to it, but it fell flat. with the rest of the album surrounding it, it really does feel like a climax and it hits much harder.
>>
The album puts you in a mood that American Dream cashes in

Easy AOTY

This and Crack Up are my favorites

I didn't like Tonite or Call the Police when they came out but they sound fantastic in context with the record.

I was afraid they were going ruin their solid discography with a mediocre album but they just ended up making another great record. It's so strange to anticipate disappointment and end up loving the finished product. Everything could of gone wrong but everything went right. How the fuck did James do this?

talking heads 1.5

I also got this vibe. This album is considerably more Talking Heads than their previous efforts. But that's good for me.
>>
>all these pitchfork fangirls

The album is alright at best. You're all faggots.
>>
>>74896225

Nah, p4k is gay. Album is easily better than This is Happening. Not quite Sound of Silver tier though.

What is the definition of an emotional haircut? is the hair cut when the owner of said hair is emotional or is the hair itself emotional?
>>
Lots of interesting synth work. Lots of cool post-punk influence on i used to and emotional haircut. Maybe even more so than their debut.

I would have honestly been happy just to get This Is Happening 2.0 but I didn't expect them to change it up this much. Still pretty recognizable as LCD but I think the break did them a lot of good
>>
>>74897563
It is where there is a lot of emotion invested in the length of the hair. Your ex said they liked your hair long, you are getting your hair cut to go to war, you are getting your hair cut for your wedding, etc.

oh I see - I found it hard to get this because I'm dead on the inside. Ha-ha j-just joking.

An LCD Soundsystem that sounds tonally similar to that of 'Fear Of Music' era Talking Heads... this album appeals to me in a very specific way.

tonite sounds far, far better in context (and I already really liked the track).

So many influences and styles and sounds. If you didn't like it, try listening lying down with headphones -- all the small details are so intoxicating. I wonder how it'll age.

I don't know. Sound of Silver had Watch the Tapes and Time to Get Away, very much in my view new wave filler (pretty good overall, but definitely a valley in comparison to the big highs of that record). James has always been better at the long term build kind of sound- more of a Fear of Music kind of guy than a Talking Heads 77 kind of guy. The weakest track here is I Used To, and that one takes on more of a post-punk Nick Cave/This Heat kind of vibe, and is at least successful int he first half.

The most new wave influenced song on here by far is Emotional Haircut, and even that song builds. It sounds like Murphy re-listened to his MSG concert and decided the new album needed a penultimate track like Jump Into the Fire.

I'd argue that American Dream is in fact their best record. It's really fucking good.

I want to get wasted and put on how do you sleep in a club and fucking DANCE
