Metallica had both higher highs and lower lows.

Metallica has more polish, Megadeth has more technicality.

Metallica's early "classic" albums are far superior to Megadeth's. Megadeth were slightly more consistent though I guess.

metallica was good initially and got famous because dave wrote the whole first two albums(and cliff wrote the third and fourth, thus ending the streak of good albums). dave sucks at singing and james actually got pretty good at it, i just hate his voice.

but i always think about it from daves perspective. if your in metal music, then riffs are your fucking lifeblood, your career. he poured every single good riff he ever had from his whole childhood and adolescence into metallicas early repertoire. then they kicked him out because he was a drunk, gave him the songwriting credits, and the dude had to pick his life back together, while simultaneously watching his former best friends become one of the biggest bands in the world off of HIS songs. im honestly shocked he didnt fucking kill himself.

i cant blame him for megadeth being mostly shit. what can you possibly do after youve used almost all of your good riffs and been fucked by your friends. as for who was better? metallica was better with dave, and marty friedman was the best part of megadeth. listen to dave em all and try to tell me that kirk hammet has ever been able to play this fucking good. ever. daves leads have so much more balls and kirk literally copied them note for note because hes a fucking wanker.
