So Saul Williams is responsible for Death Grips right?
>>74887188
A little bit, your pic-related is one of the best things rap has.
Mc Ride was rapping 9 years before it came though.
>>74888446
SW had two albums before TRAFONT
>>74888513
I'm aware? I love the dude. Check out the record of Said the Shotgun to the Head that's back with an orchestra.
Still, Niggy Tardust would probably be the biggest influence of DG. An Mc Ride had one Fyre album out in 99.
>>74887188
you ask that like a person who thought there was no industrial hip hop before death grips
neither them or saul williams were the first, the genre begun in the fucking 80s
that fact that so many underages on here think death grips are experimental proves how much of a reddit this board is
>>74888572
death grips are experimental
the fact that people are mentally bending over backwards to convince themselves that dg sounds anything like fucking beatnigs or dalek shows how reddit this board is
>>74888572
Stop acting like everything can only be influenced by the FIRST in its genre. Maybe DG liked Cold Crush, but their sound is much closer to Niggy Tardust. They don't sound like Dalek, or El-P. They sound vaguely like Saul Williams, but with a lot of math-rock thrown in.
They're experimental regardless of you calling people reddit or underage.
>>74888630
unique sound =/= experimental
by your shitty logic grimes and radiohead are experimental as well
>beatnigs or dalek are the only industrial hip hop artist I know besides death grips
please go back to r/deathgrips
>>74888680
No, but genuine experimentation (as found in Up My Sleeves, Hot Head, Birds) does you dumby.
>>74888695
>genuine experimentation (as found in Up My Sleeves, Hot Head, Birds)
oh my fucking sides
leave the fucking board you underage redditor
>>74888660
>>74888710
man at this point if you're not even gonna talk about music and just call everyone reddit its just b8
>>74888710
Show me an example of experimental rap then. Stop scoffing, and put yourself out there.
>>74888733
>everything I disagree with is a bait
you're just proving my point
No, Mark Stewart is responsible for Death Grips. Also Meat Beat Manifesto, Atari Teenage Riot, Dälek, Techno Animal. Ad much as I like Tardust, the album had little to no impact on the scene and was immediately followed by a more successful industrial rap inspired album the same year.

almost 10 years before Death Grips
this album also went mainstream

Which is?

Are you saying Graduation is industrial inspired??
>>74888944
I said Yeezy can't you fucking read
A thread with white kids fighting about rap, this is new.
>>74888968
>this is new
no but you are
>>74888873
blackie fucking sucks i listened to that album with the knife it was aight but kind of annoying
clouddead is my favorite album of all time but not similar to dg
>>74888968
white people liked rap in fucking 1979
Whitest thread on /mu/
>>74888873
you seem to be caught up in DG's abrasiveness, which is not why I'm claiming the to be experimental. I'm looking at their rhythms and methods of production post No Love Deep Web (Bottomless Pit excluded).
Everything you posted looks like you thing the only things the made were in 2012.
I love clouddead though.
>>74888963
Yeezy as in Kanye, as in Graduation? The album he dropped in 2007? It's not industrial at ALL
>>74889032
Fuck off, those are as valid reasons as 'they're loud and angry like BLACKIE'
>>74889064
>false equivalence
ok kid
>>74889087
>fallacy meme
yes mister
>>74889028
Oh right, Yeezus, not Yeezy. I really dont like Kanye if you can't tell.
Come to think of it, it was released a year later I guess? Either way my point stands.
Go listen to Mark Stewart if you want to hear the origins of industrial rap
>>74889119
Yeezus was release like 6 years later?
>>74888863
>>74888873
>>74887188
or maybe death grips came up with their sound on their own and werent influence by some fucking far fetched underground experimental hip hop from 20 years ago. Losers
>>74889119
This is bait, right? If not: Stop talking about things you have no idea about.
>>74889119
>Yeezus: June 18, 2013
>Niggy Tardust: November 1, 2007
>"Hurr it's like only a year latur!"
>>74889139
>6 years later
>Tardust released in 2007
Did Yeezus release in 2013 senpai?
>>74889243
Huh, it actually did
What the fuck did I do to the 6 years
I genuinely confused as to my existence now
>>74889243
I got duped :(
Also, best Saul Williams song is here, guys

MC Ride played with noisy hip-hop before Saul Williams

>>74889283
I unironically thought it came out in 2007-2008. Shows you how much of a fucking mess my life is.
>>74889349
Haha, its cool. I thought you were taking the piss though. Saul Williams made a bit of a splash with Niggy, but mostly because of Trent.
>>74889367
Yeah that was the way I got into the genre, got a NIN mailing list talking about Tardust and I really liked it.

saul williams literally started the entire sound.
i said that shit like 5 years ago.
amethyst rockstar came out in 2001. the scene didnt exist when it came out.
Death Grips is my favorite band of all time. Very deep, complex, tecturef music.
>>74891561
>tecturef
nice spelling bimbo. they maybe complex but Deaf Gripes is about as deep as a pond that's shallow
>>74888446
>your pic-related is one of the best things rap has.
you're welcome.
>>74891202
But the sound was literally there already.
