Lets post one hit wonders most anons have forgotten about

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC3y9llDXuM

Not artists who had one major hit and respectable careers afterwards, I mean artists who fell off the face of the fucking earth after they released a major song that went multiplatinum.
>>
>>74881403
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qkuu0Lwb5EM
Name one more song by these guys besides this one.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSOtIHUJbjk

I blame Diddy for this shit.

It's a shame too, this song was chill as fuck back in 2006
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu4iYTrJbwk

The only good thing to come out of the Snap era
>>
>>74881403
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H5uWRjFsGc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGytDsqkQY8

Here are two more.

>>74881464
The mid 2000's were filled with one-off r&b artists who were signed and dropped from major stars private labels. It was like a graveyard of careers.

The original white rapper

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rog8ou-ZepE

So much fucking stigma came from this faggot as the face of white people in hip hop too. And nu metal didn't help either.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSfXJJ8a-5Y

All the black girls and white girls trynna be black were banging the shit out of this when it dropped

I have no idea what happened to this group, they disappeared quicker than any other girl group in history it seems
>>
>>74881529
I feel kinda bad for Vanilla Ice. In hindsight he's not even an awful rapper. He was just fake as hell and totally overexposed after a quick rise to commercial success, which made people dislike him.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2cMG33mWVY
>>
>>74881403
Wheatus had two hits. They covered an Erasure song and it was a hit.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoG5jJ3E8rg

This song was fucking everywhere for an entire year, but I can't remember anyone actually saying they liked it.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82vpIsQ3lX8

These niggas actually thought they would make Trap/Nu-Metal fusion a thing with this shit

>>
I always feel bad for one-hit wonders. Imagine getting so much fame and then just falling into obscurity/ridicule.
>>74881497
Chumbawumba actually have had a pretty lengthy career, they began as a relatively successful punk band in the 80s.
>>
>>74882154
He had several hits that year off his debut album

More like one album wonder
>>
>>74882161
>I always feel bad for one-hit wonders. Imagine getting so much fame and then just falling into obscurity/ridicule.
I don't know about that. Seems like it depends on perspective.

I mean, I knew a lot of kids at my school who could play the "Stairway to Heaven" guitar solo, but they couldn't play three chords of a Ramones song if their life depended on it because they didn't have the strength or ability to do it. It's all a matter of perspective.
>>
>>74881529

>>
>>74882161
>Chumbawumba actually have had a pretty lengthy career, they began as a relatively successful punk band in the 80s.
"one hit wonder" refers to a bands mainstream popularity I.E. if an average teenage girl from the period only knew about that one song it is a one hit wonder. plenty of one hit wonder bands had lengthy careers and dedicated fans.
>>
>>74882028
I really appreciate late 2000's rap. Songs like Beautiful Girl, Replay, and crank dat (to some extent) had that late 2000's, early 2010's feel that took over the mainstream music scene with songs like Umbrella and Just Dance.
>>
>>74881907
ever notice how "Fly" by Sugar Ray was a sound-alike (i.e. rip-off) to the very slightly older "How Bizarre"? the hook that the guitar plays, the notes are exactly the same in both but just strummed differently.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ2t4jfVTiU

I guess they also had a hit with their Thriller cover, but this is their only notable original song. Happened with a lot of nu-metal bands in the late 90s to early 2000s.
>>
>>74882161
They were a pretty successful underground act in niche circles, but that brief breakthrough into the mainstream is what 99%+ of people know of them. Besides Tubthumper they only charted on indie charts and fell off quickly afterwards. The difference between that and a triple platinum record is massive.
>>
>>74881497
Yeah dude, ChumbaWumba's Anarcho-punk stuff from the 80's is actually pretty memorable
>>
the 80s was lousy with one-hit-wonders. all these songs charted and got radio play:

>>74881497
Secret Smile was a hit for Semisonic too as well I think
>>
>>74881497
Pictures of Starving Children Sell Records is an underrated album and Invasion one of my favorite anarcho-punk songs
>>
>>74882161
Eh, there's no reason to feel bad for them from the money they make...but more to feel sorry for them because it can make them turn into people who just go into hiding and get checks for the rest of their life but are never able to be creative again (like Len, that song still makes that guy money and he just hides in a basement)

A lot of bands who were doing well but then got one big hit the resent the fact people know them for that hit (like Chumbawamba) even though they were previously a respectable band

People who get one hit early in their careers should be felt sorry for that they ever thought they had talent I guess but they still got so lucky and couldn't follow through that if anything you should look down on them with contempt
>>
>>74882196
Is this a new fucking pasta I've seen it three goddamn times in the last hour
>>
>>74883408
I don't know about that. Seems like it depends on perspective.

I mean, I knew a lot of kids at my school who could play the "Stairway to Heaven" guitar solo, but they couldn't play three chords of a Ramones song if their life depended on it because they didn't have the strength or ability to do it. It's all a matter of perspective.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZXLLMbJdZ4

what are some other tragic one hit wonders? the rest of this album is also very good and it's a shame that the la's are known for this one song
>>

I have such a soft spot for this band.
>>
>>74882161
>I always feel bad for one-hit wonders. Imagine getting so much fame and then just falling into obscurity/ridicule.

It has to be pretty bad for those that continue their career after.
Like Blue October, for example. They had one that single "Hate Me", they did arenas and festivals and were huge for a few months and then nothing.

I was looking at my local venue's calendar and Blue October is playing there in a few months. This is a small club that holds maybe 250 people max.

It has to be incredibly strange to go from playing the club scene, to playing arenas, and then back to clubs. The income difference must be massive as well.

No. Champagne Supernova was almsot as big as Wonderwall at the time and Don't Look Back in Anger got a fair amount of airplay and MTV rotation too.

Not to mention they had several other songs that were huge with the alternative rock crowd too, but didn't really crossover that much into the Top 40 world.

Bowling for Soup had a few good ones. 1985, Almost, Punk Rock 101, Girl all the Bad Guys Want, Ohio (Come Back to Texas) are the ones that come to mind when I think of them. They were more of a 1-2 album wonder. And I think most of their songs were written by other groups in the first place.
There was something charming about the innocence of pop punk in its hayday.

Its hard to say really. Hoon snorted enough coke and popped enough pills to off an elephant, so either he was severely impaired already or meant to end it on a high note. Either way, band members losing their singer at the beginning of a promising career and falling into irrelevance has to sting badly. Think about the time frame. Blind Melon could've been remembered as one of the great 90's bands alongside the icons, and put out a dozen or more albums. But they crashed at the start because of his death.

Dude this guy has like 7 hits.
Heart shaped world
Blue Spanish sky
San Francisco Days
Two Hearts
Baby did a bad bad thing
Somebody's crying
Kings of the highway
Wrong to love you
