Why no thread for this? I'm two tracks in... how feel?
You like it a lot. You think it's going to be AOTY.
Feel good
It's my second AOTY. Science Fiction is gonna be hard to top
AOTY contender
OP Update: I'm up to american dream. I'm very happy with this so far.
how do you sleep has the most amazing build up im in love
Call the Police sounds like a bad b-side from an old U2 album.
>>74878470
but muh topical references to the current political climate
>>74878470
Not really
>>74878470
Fuck no, it sounds more like early New Order
>>74878470
WTF don't even compare LCD soundsystem to those pussies in U2 ever again
Is black screen about bowie? is it too long?
>>74878572
Don't lie to yourself. I hear a lot of U2 on this album, which is a good thing. 1980-1991 U2 is Great.
>>74878685
>Is black screen about bowie?
Yes
>is it too long?
No
>>74877715
It's getting overhyped hard. It's good, but it's not amazing.
>>74878721
No. U2 is shit and they have always been shit.
>>74878572
>WTF don't even compare LCD soundsystem to those pussies in U2 ever again
LOL lcd soundsystem are a bunch of wimpy trust fund hipsters from new york, at least U2 lived through actual harsh political times during the 70s in Ireland
black screen most underrated
>>74877715
i don't care about lcd soundsystem i'm just dropping in to say that is honestly one of the shittiest album covers i've ever seen
>>74878977
Ok kid. When you hit 20, you'll understand
its good
Im so angry at how good this album is, James Murphy is a fat talentless hack

nice
Pretty good so far. From the shit I heard about it on /mu/ I thought it was going to be a goof but I'm pleasantly surprised
>>74880048
I hate it when I love albums!
>>74877715
VIRAL MARKETING VIRAL MARKETING
other voices is track of 2017
best song on the album
>>74881984
thanks broh
>>74877715
First track is great, was a little worried after the singles (save Call the Police) but i'm loving this so far. Infinite Jest influence on the cover art also?
Why does /mu/ hate James Murphy he seems cool to me. Great live act.
reading the tracklist in order by pairs makes me visualize weird images.
>I Used to
>Change Yr Mind
>How Do You Sleep?
>Tonite
>Call the Police
>American Dream
What did he mean by this?
Standing on the shore
Facing
Eaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast.
Aoty
>why no thread for this
Very rare to say something is an instant classic, but after five listens, this album makes a good case.
you're still a baby now
you're still a baby now
you're still a baby now
>>74877734
>>74877869
correct, everything else sounds bland in comparison. James is vibrant as fuck on this record, yet its the darkest and most pessimistic sounding LCD record yet.
How Do You Sleep is SOTY.
Although I will say the last two songs sound superfluous after the first listen.
>>74883052
ONE
STEP
FORWAAARRD
somehow, this album feels like a good modern U2 album
>>74884153
I agree.
>>74877715
I've heard it, heard it - it sounds like the 90s
does this drop at midnight est on streaming services ?
This shit's great boys. We did it.

which is best track?
>>74885802
Between American Dream and Oh Baby
Black Screen and How Do You Sleep are runner ups. Seriously thought lotsa good tracks on here.
>>74885879
though* not thought, sry.
>>74885603
I believe so, yes. Maybe even a little bit earlier. I know Kendrick Lamar released at like 10pm for me. Very soon either way.
>>74885985
thanks bro
>>74886047
Enjoy! I think this is a great album.
>>74885802
STANDING ON THE SHORE
FACING EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAASSST
Wish the album was more Post-punk, more tracks like Call the Police and Emotional Haircut would have been great.
SoS > AD > TiH > S/T
I was expecting Everything Now levels of disappointment and I got the most sonically dense and progressive record they've put out to date... I feel strange. But good. But... strange.
>>74886495
this pretty much
>>74878780
this, it's extremely derivative and some of the longer tracks test my patience but overall it's good and it seems like James forced himself to write the words "sleep/dream/wake" into the lyrics as much as possible on each song to tie it together
The outro to change yr mind makes me tremble into white noise.
im wondering how some of these songs will work live
definitely excited to see how you do sleep
>>74880048
I agree. It's a good album but I swear James Murphy has never had an original idea in his life.
guitar is like gang of four
>>74877715
This is has no reason to be this fucking good. I was ready for disappointment and now I think might like this better than S/T and This is Happening. Well done, James.
>>74885802
American Dream!
>>74888065
>I think might like this better than S/T and This is Happening
slow down, lad
How the fuck does le sad middle aged man keep doing it?
>those final 5 minutes of Black Screen
This was amazing
Thank you based James Murphy
Black Screen albeit 14 minutes long is a great song
Me likey
I thought Brian Eno released an ambient album this year
I never listened to the album before this because the lead single was just LCD Soundsystem playing White Light/White Heat and I'll never listen to this because of the cover art. Completely done with this band forever
Holy fuck how do you sleep? is amazing
>>74888647
>not listening to an album because of cover art
>>74888647
aight cya
>>74888669
>1368x1234 signal that i'm wasting my time
ok i'll take your word for it
>>74888647
superficiality exposed. you're a fucking pleb regardless of the actual merit of this album.
They should've stayed broken up cause this is dull, pretty disappointed right now desu
>>74888756
Fuck off Melon
>>74889008
I wanted to like it, but this is the complete opposite of what made This is Happening good
My gf of 8 years broke up with me and 2 days later they released Christmas Will Break Your Heart.
Anything as good as All My Friends in it?
>>74889092
You've most likely heard it already but Call The Police actually gives me All My Friends vibes. Not nearly as perfect though, but there are some amazing tracks throughout the album.
>>74889092
How Do You Sleep? is the best song they've ever done
its alright, i think the first three tracks are boring af but gains steam starting with change yr mind albeit hits a couple hitches with the last tracks imo, especially emotional haircut which just sucks
>>74889299
Debatable. Better than Losing My Edge, Sound of Silver? Nah.
>>74889665
Not who you're replying to but I've always found those two tracks pretty overrated. Peak LCD for me is Yr City's a Sucker, All My Friends and Dance Yrself Clean.
>>74881283
why u always shillin this albums?
>>74882481
I usually didn't like that kind of LCD song but this one I found myself really enjoying
>>74889299
it's the best on the album, i love the title track as well.
this album is great, could be my AOTY, but i'm an LCD stan so i'm biased
AOTY for me hands down.
It's miraculous how they've maintained their essence while doing some really daring new things.
Feels like such a natural step from This Is Happening and just clicks into place in what must be one of the best discographies in modern music.
>>74877715
can't believe people here feel so strongly. I thought it was ok
Gonna listen in a bit.
What am I in for mu?
For reference:
Sound of Silver > This Is Happening > self-titled
>>74891730
You're gonna like it. Its feels like a sprinkling has been taken from all three of their previous albums and mixed into a stew of fresh new ideas.
>>74891730
I would personally place it slightly higher than "This is Happening" and a little bit below "Sound of Silver".
>>74891755
I really loved Tonite, so if more of their songs have that slow burning aspect of LCD, I'll be happy.
>>74891801
I don't think you'll be disappointed :)
awesome so far
>>74891892
I wasn't. It'll take time to digest, but I think I actually like it more than Sound of Silver. It's very developed and progressive sounding. There's no "Drunk Girls" or "Time to Get Away" - I love LCD, but their attempts at new wave were never their strong suit.
>the initial hype thread
remember this thread when fantano pans it and everyone suddenly hates this album
remember it
>>74889693
Losing My Edge is the biggest slice of irony pie to exist in our lifetimes. It is objectively their best song, and for the exact same reason, it is their worst.
>>74892493
BUT HAVE YOU SEEN MY RECORDS
>tfw lcd have never released anything bad
>tfw life is turning out good
will Fantano give it a score it deserves or has a drank too much of the contrarian Kool aid?
>>74892561
>tfw 2017 is filled with disappointing big name record after disappointing big name record
>expect LCD to fall into the same trap
>they release their best record yet
LCD Soundsystem saved music
>>74892584
the latter, man
>>74881984
choice cunt
>>74892584
Fantano really is a bumbling idiot sometimes.
Say what you like about LCD Soundsystem but you can't love their past albums and suddenly hate this one. Its not a big enough departure and brings more than enough to the table to warrant a 7 at the absolute least.
This is why, as much as fucking hate P4K, I will always take them more seriously than Anthony. He's incredibly inconsistent and there's no one else to say "Woah hold up man are you sure you aren't bring too rash here?"
>>74892654
Oh Bebe.
Remind me again, why do people actually buy into his Latino shtick?
>>74878470
Ignore these cunts... you're absolutely right
>>74892806
Hi Fantano. Could you please take your shit-tier opinion elsewhere?
Holy shit what a fucking great record.
Y'all won't believe me but for a lot of time now i try not to have a strong opinion on anything before like 3-4 listens and sometimes it's still not enough to know how i really feel about a record. But holy crap i loved every second of it (well maybe a bit less call the police and american dream, dunno why they released it as singles. they're good but not as good as the rest of the record). There are already a lot of things that i remember, love, and hell, can dance to on this album.
>>74877715
It's boring.
>>74877836
Damn that's a lot of shit taste for one person
>>74887963
more like talking heads imo
>>74892654
He has had the same attitude since they came back, he is just mad at the whole Madison Square thing. I don't fucking get how someone who loves a band is upset at them coming back. The album is as good as their previous projects and his reasons for disliking it make no sense
>>74893077
He's right. This music is nothing special, sorry.
>>74893113
their music never really had anything special, but still it was good. it was just Kraftwerk and new order played by some middle aged american dude, but in a good way
>>74893113
He game the same music a 9, my problem isn't him liking the music or not, it's his reasoning
>>74893122
If it never was something special then what is all this circlejerking going on here? All p4k drones?
>>74893151
It's really good, not unique but good
>>74893022
What's your AOTY? Tyler the Creator?
