Don't listen to these guys OP. I use fruityloops now for more than 15 years. I will never change too Ableton or other DAW. All our releases on Vinyl / Cassette are made with FL. So Albeton isn't a magic program that will make you "succesfull"

I used fl for about a month and then switched to Ableton and never looked back. I would recommend Ableton 100%. For me, I feel that the workflow is much more streamlined.

FL Studio is a legitimate DAW that is used by not only trap and EDM makers, but many other genres. Do not listen to the FL haters OP. I have used both FL Studio, Ableton, and Logic, and I must say I've found myself returning to FL Studio the most out of any of them.

Pros:
+ There's a lot of ways to do a lot of things. It takes a bit to learn, but there's different reasons different tools are used and you'll likely use a mixture of them all. From sampling in Edison, to SliceX, to the Playlist.
+ FL has a lot of great built in FX. Fruity Reeverb, Delay, Philter, Flanger, Parametric EQ, the built in FL Studio tools are great and I often opt in to use them more than most tools.
+ FL has a great step sequencer that pairs very well with the piano roll and MIDI options FL offers.
+ Has VST3 support
+ Has very good plug-in support in general. There's a lot of plug-ins designed just for FL Studio and most are usually optimized for it.
+ It's piano roll is hands down the best out of any DAW.

Cons:
- While it has lots of great effects you can add on that outclass many DAWs, it completely lacks in the synth department with the exception of Sytrus. 3rd party synths like ElectraX, Nexus, Omnisphere, Cyclops, etc. blow almost all of the synths in FL studio out of the water.
- It's workflow is not the best explained. Especially when you start using a lot of effects. Which is a plus for other DAWs like Ableton, which have a very easy method of seeing what effects you're using and tuning them to your needs.
- While it is used by many artist outside of trap and EDM, in my opinion, if I'm recording guitar, drums, etc. I have a much easier time recording that inside of Logic. I use FL studio on occasion if a project I have is being used by someone else with better experience in recording instruments, but I generally always try to move to a different DAW.

FL Studio is a great DAW and should have never been disqualified from being considered one.
